my project of 3 years..finally just painted after a year of metal work.
Hahahahaha...love the "belly button" shot...that's how I feel about '32 Fords & Model A's...to each his own I guess...can't believe I missed this thread.
Here's a shot of my "street gasser" in 1967...that was about the same time I owned 30 (yeah, you read it right-thirty) 1957 Chevies all at the same time...various models except a Nomad and a convert.
I still have one 1957 Chevy...and sold the second to last '57 I owned in 2001...it went to Iowa.
I purchased my first '57 150 tudor in 1960...and have never been without at least one in my life...prolly the most fun car I've owned, even IF everyone else in the world has one exactly like it.
Mp&C , Nice! You have to keep us updated on your progress.
Here is a more recent photo, although the passenger eyebrow has been replaced now. With much more to go..............
VonMerkin: get the seller to add a bumper or anything else you want from the states. Have them put it on the car and you won't have to pay duty taxes or another shipping charge.
Mine is really rough, but hey all 55' chevys are pretty photogenic!
Here's a pic of my old 210 sedan, I wish every day I would of kept it.
It was an old drag car that had a 406 ci big block, 4speed, 12 bolt posi, ladder bars, and tilt frontend.
That is what mine looked like, but the floors and trunk had to be replaced. But it is coming along, hoping for the Texas Thaw in Feb.
DAMN! That's a twin to my 1st car (1970). Same colors and blacked out windows too. I paid $20. Almost that clean, ran, but smoked like Hell. Rebuilt the motor in auto shop for $107. COOL COOL COOL
Damn right! Looks great just sitting there.
The shorty was built from a 4dr ba sedan body shortened 18" roof 24" was mine now runs 10.30s at the drags. The 55 pontiac (Canadian) ended up as the gold 55 chevy with a change of quarters and front clip ,dash was left pontiac.
More before shots of the Pontivrolet
Great thread! The Tri-5s are camera hounds, regardless of condition. I love them all, but partial to the 55s. There is just something about the stance that catches my eye. They look like they were built to run. I've loved them since I saw them on the show room floor.
Johnny your Pontiac to Chevy is very interesting.
I've had an old 55 4dr Belair for 30 plus years now, and just finished a re-do.
this is an awesome thread. my girl's dad has a 55 hardtop thats been sitting for years because he's going to build it someday. i hope i can convince him to let me have a crack at it!
Here's mine. Running it at Famoso and Sacramento Raceway. 12.55 and 107, so far.
Dang Mo FO, That tunnel set up is trick, are you going to name that car Tricky Mo Fo ....
I would love for someone to photoshop 40stude yellow 57 and lower it a bunch. I was leaning towards this look when I bought my chrome OE wheels and cheater slicks but I have to have it alot of lower.
anyone out there capable of doing a quick photoshop lowering of it for me (front fenders tucking the top of the rim, back at about mid rim).
henry, thanks for lowering it and removing the wording (I had forgotten to ask but did not want to go back and ask for a second favor), that is the look I was wondering about. Now i know it would work. My version of Project X. (would go a slight be more yellow)
anyone know what color Project X was painted
Looks too pro-street to me with that stance....
Bones, If I remember right the Project X was painted 76 or 77 Corvette yellow.
Code 56. I've had many painted cars that color
I'll start on mine someday...
henry, here's a pic of mine when i got, and i live right across the river from you.
Damn, what a difference in that car...but you wouldn't have wanted to own it...it hated me...always broke when I took it out...prolly would have killed me if I hadn't gotten rid of it...
sold mine......shoulda kept them
