    i have these 2, i believe, 4 speed transmissions and i'm having a hell of a time identifying them. one is bolted to a 235 chevy. i took some shitty pictures, if anyone can tell what they are that would be badass.

    i thought it was a 420, but wasnt sure the case doesnt look the exact same. and if it is a 420 i have a perfect use fore it. i almost bought one 2 weeks ago to put into my jeep. 7.0 1st gear ratio = crawltastic. haha
    so to get the gear ratios to be positive, i just spin the input and count the # of times the output spins correct?

    SM 420 is '48 up ... these 2 are '38-'47 crash boxes - no synchros

    Yeah, pretty much. If you lived in the snow belt, they'd be good winter traction weight in the back of your 2wd pickup.
