The Sam Conrad highboy, originally fitted with a flathead. When the big Olds was installed Tex Smith shot this photo for a feature on header construction for HRM. It was light metallic blue here, I always preferred the dark blue.

I was fortunate to converse with the Acala Family and gave them a copy of my films. It was the only movie taken of the little Red Roadster in action from the early days. Some good and others disheartening in the films. But, it was pure competition. Today, it is not refurbished or a repop, but the original roadster, cleaned up and in excellent shape.

Currently, it resides in the latest Lion’s Dragstrip Museum among other So Cal favorites. It can be started and run with a few twists, but is happy for the vacation after many years of competition.
