Need some ideas and pics for a 57 Chevy. Need some direction for this thing, sick of all the billet that gets hung these cars.
How about some chrome reversed steelies, dual exhaust with steel or glass pack mufflers, a little subtle lowering in the front, and a mildly warmed over motor - basically a mild custom/hot rod.
Not sure which way I wan't to go with it. Thats why I was hoping to see some pics from fellow hambers.
Lower it down over some Chrome Steelies with thin white walls (Cheaters out back) and leave the ass up a little bit high then the front. Paint it something with a bit of sparkle and a lot of shine while having the interior done in a Diamond tuck. Done.
Built in the '60z, owned it for over 25 years than sold it to buy a '36 Ford 3/W. Stock front and rear, LT1, 4 speed, 4:11
57 buick grille is a natural for a custom, chrome bullits for the bumper,56 olds headlights if you like bodywork....and a smooth 58 caddy hood....thats my take on a custom front end for a 57.
IMHO, Brigrat just might have posted the ultimate '57 Chevy. I've seen them done in a hundred different ways in the last 50 years and I haven't had one touch me like his for as long as I can remember. Time for a group hug? Frank
Thanks Frank, I was in tears than and I am in tears now! The wife says "I told you not to sell it!" ...............................................
I like this 57 not sure about the white letters.........and a couple 55s in the style you may be speaking of.
that 57 with hubcaps is just about perfect. maybe a filled hood would be a nice addition but the color, lowering and wheels fit together so nicely.
I guess this could be called traditional. Just got it put together after a 4 year restoration. Goes in Monday for interior.
You wanted opinions, so here come mine. Post cars should have lots of motor, as much rear tire as you can fit into the wheelwell, and moderately narrow front wheels. For a street car, stock height to slightly lowered will work well. Stock styling is better than most of the modifications commonly seen. I think Torque Thrusts would be my first choice, with the machined lip and grey center. It will really depend on the persona you want to project for your ride. Obviously, my vision was influenced by some of the nicest cars in the high school parking lot in the late 60s.
Man, did I see your car at Bonneville this year, maybe without the paint? we stood in the parking lot and admired it for ever. Very slick.
How about this one(sorry couldnt find a better picture) http://usedmagazines.com/cgi-bin/carjpg.cgi?full/HR198406.JPG It was built by Hot Rod Mag, as a giveaway for the 1984 Hot Rod Supernationals in Indianapolis. It was a 210 with Bel Air chrome. Nomad rear bumper. A very nice car. Lars
What he said! then drive it. Alot. Then you will soon know what "personality" to continue with. Good luck and let us see some more pics as it goes.
