OK, I've been stalled out on this car for a while until I found some pics of it while looking for something else. Awhile back I decided not to go the track nose route and put on a 32 shell. Now I kind of like the track nose again. Which way do you guys think I should go? The track nose in the pic is made out of foam and cardboard.
The Deuce shell looks better. Not to many 32 look good with a track nose, and the ones that do are channeled.
I normally would go for the track nose, but the 32 shell and the rake on that car look great.. even the cat stands by it! -Anthony
Steve, I like the 32 shell best. Had the ole 29 at the HRR, parked near you on Sat, we left in the afternoon. Sorry we did not cross paths. Bob
Track nose looks ok sans roof and perhaps with a lower rear. Deuce grille looks best with the top. Gary
Here's a vote for the nose. And if you want a grille for that setup there's one on eBay right now that might fit that shape.
I like the idea of being able to use either - rig it up to swap the hood and grille when you want to change looks. Maybe run a couple of sets of wheels/tires to go with each look as well Steve
i think with the track nose you need a longer wheelbase or the hood looks to short and stubby, the 32 body is also very tall to proportionally look correct with a robust track nose, you might consider channeling the body leveling the stance and stretching the wheelbase a few inches then i think it will look good with the nose be sure to keep the front edge of the tires paralell or infront of the front of the nose...otherwise it gets a bit looking like snoopy ive looked at and drawn ALOT of these things over the past couple years while working on mine....building a 32 with a nose was an option but i decided to stick with a 28 and put a 32 shell on the 32 good luck in any case Zach
I believe the deuce grill looks better, IMO track noses look better on 27-29 roadsters that are channelled. But to all their own, the track nose is different.
i think zach has the right idea if the car was leveled out and a little longer it might make the track nose look proportioned to the car. the car has too much of a forward leaning rake as it sits now and looks like its wants to nosedive into the dirt. good luck with whatever you decide on.
I agree with monster kid. It almost (dare i say) makes it look like a fenderless volkswagon. I dont dislike track noses i just think it looks to good with the 32 grill. Oh and keep the top. Great work "keep on keepin on"
heres the one im working on i think about this size could lend itself to a 32 channeled about 2 or 3 inches with a short belly/rolled pan on the sides this is a stock sized 28 body with 110-111 wheelbase or something like this could work channeled with no pan on the bottom i know this is a 33/4 but you get the idea of the nose shape this is what i was considering for my 32
Steve, If my opinion is worth anything you need to check Poteet's new track nosed '34. That will give you a better idea how to give the track nose a more balanced look as I think you have a good idea there but the nose grill looks to small and needs a little more slact to become one with the rest of the car.
Don't limit yourself. A roadster is capable of having multiple looks. I agree with Steve. Be willing and ready to change.
