Something a little different, 15 x 7 and 15 x 8 1/2 Torque Thrusts on my 60 Tbird mild custom. These were on my sons 67 Mustang GT and when he rebuilt it he went to 17s and gave me these for painting then car. I like them better than the chrome wheels and narrow whites I have for the car.

Will the 8.5 x 15 TT fit under a 55 Chevy without any issues?

  9. 55's have the narrowest wheel well out of the 3. The 7.5" fits without any mods

  11. The 55 has lots of room if you move the springs inside the frame rails, only problem with that is then you have to move the gas tank over some. I did not move the springs on mine and I had 8 inch cragars under my 55 with L60-15 M&H street n strip tires on mine, but the back space has to be right and even then it's a bit of a struggle getting them in and out of there. Seven inch goes in there without any trouble.

    15x8 Cragars.....

  18. My beater:
15x8.5 / 15x6 ET Supers (late '60s vintage) with the funky oval center caps. Tires are 265/70-15 BFGs in the back and 215/65-15 BFGs in the front.

WHY isnt ET III doing the oval center caps?? They were when they first started up, then they just quietly dropped them. ???

I like them, but the 15x6 has too much backspacing to my eye. I notice on thier website, it says you can order the 15x4 as a two piece in wider widths. I wonder if that means you can order them as a 6" with more positive offset than the std. 15x6?

  25. OOOOhhhh Jeff...that's sooo nice!
Here's my old 50 delivery with 14X6 early round spokes [in one photo] and later 15X7 and 15X8.5" in the other photo

  26. I have a set of Magnesium TT 14X6 with the round spokes. The rear 15X8.5 have the peaked spokes. Is there a preference between the two different styles. I actually like the peaked spoke myself.

  28. They aren't for everybody, but they have a certain funky style about them that I really like. Here's a better shot of the front and rear wheels after I restored them.

Here's a picture of my other project, a '55 Chevy truck. These wheels had been on there for over 15 years. The fronts are 15x6, and the rears are 15x10 magnesiums. Over the years, I had sent the rears out a few times to get polished, but I got tired of keeping them up. I finally decided to just let 'em age gracefully.

DAMN those look good! There was a thread on here a while back about real mag wheels on drag cars, cant find it now. Someone posted a photo of a Goodyear Blue Streak indy mounted on an ET 5 spoke(I know, not magnesium) with the oval cap, I just about popped a nut. Just did a search, but I cant find it now.

  30. Same TTs and tires on both cars. I had them on the roached out fifty-six first then bought the fifty-five as a no enginge roller and swapped the works over ..... I had to used a bottle jack on the rear leaf-to-frame to get the rears on the '55 .... due to the different profile of the wheel well and lower quarter.

Been many moons, forgot the size.
