Torque Converter interchange.. TH350-C and 700r4

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by nate, Sep 3, 2009.

  1. Can anyone tell me if a stock converter for a TH350C will work on an early (83) 700r4?:confused:

In a word, NO. 7004r's use a lockup converter. It's a totally different converter than TH350 uses.

Good luck with your project. ........Jack

  3. yeah, but the 350 "C" is a lockup, otherwise I wouldn't consider it. I just didn't know if the splines were different or if it worked the same way?? I had a later 30 spline converter, put that in last night and it just spun.. I have the 350C converter here so I was going to try it, but I didn't know if it was the same as the 27 spline in the 700..

350 is an old non-metric design, 700 is a metric design, uses a completely different pump. different size splines, hub, etc

  7. gotcha, thanks once again squirrel. Looks like i need to go buy a new converter.
