1932 Ford Roadster. How do you make them so you can entry? i want to use the car with the top down, not of and in the garage. this is a original changed a littlebit for chopped windshield. Pls, Give me pictures.
Jimmy, When the upright of the stock top irons, that attach to the bolt behind the doors, are cut it forces the folded iron to interfere with entry. My '32 roadster has original irons and if I want to fold the top I just remove it and stow in the trunk. Although my car is all original Ford except for the engine I couldn't justify an aftermarket top. They just don't look right on an original Ford roadster.
Yes your main bow has been shortened. With mine i found they dont tuck back OR down far enough to leave on the car folded.
Yes, my main bow is shortened. glass in middle is 4'' and that's to low for driving with top on.. cool attitude, but to low. So far have the top been in the garage when not used, but i drive a lot here and in Europe you never knew the weather. I'm gone to make all new now and don't have any good idea. But there is a lot of roadsters out there and someone with same problem must have the solution. or do i have to invent the wheel again. It's a really nice roadster you got. Love them in that style..
Mine is chopped 3 1/2" on a repro Baron LeBonney frame, and it does not fold flat, which is not a problem for me as I love the look of it up. I'll try to post photos today in the 'folded' position.
Excepted big pile when down in the early years of roadster etc. Was never something I liked even in 1950s some car stuff folded in too big a pile. I built my own hot rod 28A roadster in 1959,didn't add a folding top for many years mostly cuz of not liking early roadsters with tops. So by the time I did add a folding top in late 2013,I did my own design frame work n sewing, with the idea too have simple an low out of the way pile when down. Top size between 28 an 32 was only a few in. bigger by 32,but same style for tops n fitment. I did do a tech on how.https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...top-a-how-too-do-it-tech.857951/#post-9479688
Realized that part of my problem is that the rear window, and the lower strip hiding the Lift-a-Dots have nowhere to fold into, thus binding the whole operation. Oh well, I’m glad I like it up. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

Here’s another build you might get ideas from. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/building-a-foldable-stowable-roadster-top.1113268/ Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
