"One of my favorite cars ever." I could never have A favorite anything, I am too fickle. This car however is very special. When I first saw the '26 Chevy roadster body that mis the center piece of my build I though," not a T but pretty cool any way which is what I thought of a '25 Chevy roadster I wanted but could not afford in '63 or '64. I got mine because I knew I'd never find a '26 -'27 T in decent shape that I could afford. When I began to research Chevy roadsters and look for parts I was reminded of the Spurgin/Giovanine roadster. Jimmy Bs posts of this car and his build thread made it more real. I prefer an earlier version but the rich history of this car and it's builders and their connection with Bob Rufi and his streamliner are just some of what make it so special. Articles and videos showing what it took to build a Chevy four to out perform everything it competed against add to the fun. Anyway that car makes me smile.

@Six Ball I have been debating this very notion that the others in the mix are as important to the movement as one another...the diversity paved the way not just one...I celebrate that and many do here...and that is why this thread has become so important being a celebration of the diversity of these competitive entries...winning was also part of that history and it was not always one sided.

Look forward to your roadster project moving forward...

Double like...;)...I always think there could be a vintage black and white of it's former heyday...and it may show up here someday.

  12. I don't know if it is the back hoe in the back ground that triggered this thought but the front cross member looks like a factory, road grader part. doesn't look home built to me. any thoughts?

It is just a well thought out robust creation...could be a frame clip or swap and it looks to have towing hookup as well...wonder if it had the rad in the back...or it just did strip duty without? @Oldioron could you find the video and post it?

  14. I was thinking the bracket hanging down in front of the axle was a radiator mount?

Could be it's a wacky looking vehicle center mount rad with rods at top back to firewall...

Doodlebugs were tractor conversions, either with a kit or homespun, this looks more like what I've seen referred to as a jalopy or a home-built speedster.

A home-built doodlebug would most likely have over-sized rear wheels, a second transmission, and or a truck rear end. The headlights, if any, would more likely be stock location or higher for use with plows and such. We have tons of them in New England.

  26. This had been converted into a doodlebug. I replaced the Ruckstell rear with that of a 22 Overland. It is the first year Chev had 4 wheel brakes.
