Thems...BIG Cars them Essexs...you got it down to the size of a Deuce Tudor by losing the 8 inches...nice job on that and of course good to see the Other that amassed the hugely crowded Automotive market back in those days...

Is that the stock gas tank?...I've seen similar on Hotrodded Fords with perhaps an Essex as a donor...

Looks like California plates. There was a time there, early-mid '60s when a "rake" was the fad and usually attained by lowering the front more than the back. Some found it was easier to raise the back but that exposed the rear end. So mostly white painted rear ends, and even florescent orange and green. became a thing for a little while. Do you have any idea how much work it takes to clean and seal an old Ford banjo well enough to have it STAY white? I do! My '38 got a dropped axle and front spring with reversed eyes and the dirty white rear end got tucked back under the car. :D

...So many Unique Hotrods out there... They may have missed the Traditional mark for certain details but were right up there with them...I'm pretty sure this is a 1st for this Thread...the doors always open for vintage genius...

George Rose of the Whistlers car club of Ventura obviously was an out of the box thinker behind this Awesome Hotrod...

It certainly went through many notable additions including a Hallock style Windshield...

Do visit the link for a more thorough detailing of this Hotrod that has disappeared with a fate unknown...

Trust your Spokes...what a Honey of a Nasty Beast...this is but another from the Road Kings Car Club of Burbank with the Ivo, Prudhomme Connection...Ivo was a show quality builder so it's no surprise these examples from the club are of a show like Caliber...

Jim Miles is named on the lower image...He was a Racer and I suspect he piloted this showstopper...

...Yes, you are absolutely correct, I shared a link that takes you right to the most recent thread on it and you are correct that it graced the Cover of Hotrod and more in the early 60s...

@studebakerjoe, thanks for diggin' up that article...there were some brave souls building these unique Hotrods back in the day...talk about an interesting lineage...was it ever captured in its heyday...I don't recall ever seeing it but it seemed a Dry Lake warrior...so I'll be snooping...

...this Drag Coupe is a perfect example of a look that has become very popular in the grounded newer Generation Hotrods many with Ratty edges while a large number are not so, giving a nod to their former historical influencers like this Looker that was shared in @porknbeaner's Gas and Altered Thread by @AHotRod that I discovered recently after a well deserved ressurection...
