At first glance I just thought that was a cool Model A roadster, but I can see what looks like parallel springs front and rear and also the grille shell looks a little different. Hopefully someone will chime in and can identify what we’re looking at here. I would also be interested to know what the coupe is in the background. That’s a pretty cool old picture full of lots of neat details.

I think it was another of @rbantique's collection and yes some of these pics pack a powerful punch indeed...Your right it looks like a 29 Roadster including the Hood and the rest something else but it was a Jalopy and there was some definitely some parts shuffling going on for sure.

    23 Chev Rad and Lights

    1926-chevrolet-superior-series-v.jpg

    26 Chevrolet Chassis and Hood
(I don't think this Rad Shell is a 26 Chev)

    & 29 Ford Roadster Body

and Presto Hotrod...oh! and don't need no stinkin' fenders...:D

@Six Ball your a Chevy Guy what's your opinion?

THEY MOVED STOCK CROSS MEMBER FORWARD, ( note distance from front of frame to cross member)
SO THEY COULD MOUNT SPRING IN FRONT OF AXLE. They also mounted stock shocks crosswise, instead of parallel with frame.[IMG]

There is some interesting stuff there. Oliver tractor radiator shell, Chevy frame I think, interesting spring and axle setup. Can't be much clearance between the axle and frame. I'd like to see more pictures of it.

Hey Hambers...Whilst snooping I visited @52 CAMJAMMER's profile and I believe he said he built his avatar that Quoted...."It still holds a speed record in NHRA of 114 mph"...with one of these faces......After...I don't blame him he should be Proud...;)

I first hope he still has good health on his side as he was 86 in 2017...Secondly I wonder if he or the Akron Ohio Camjammers Crowd can post up some of his Avatar Hotrod...and heck tell us a bit more about his Hotrods and accomplishments...

Hey just a call out to you veteran Hotrodders...Lay the History on Us...It matters...never think we might not be interested...It's Hamb Nitro...;)

  24. Might as well ask if individuality can be bought over the counter.
To me a hot rodder is someone who just cant keep well enough alone. Always changing things. But Some parts must be purchased i guess.
I remember when being able to purchase a “ hot rod “ over the counter started. I never saw the appeal. Still dont. I think there is a difference in assembling a car from over the counter parts and doing a build. Maybe its just me.
Went to a Goodguys show out here a few years ago and was impressed with all the cars , at least from a distance. Think i saw two builds, not finished but driven, as they should be. At least there was that. All the rest seemed to have been trailered there. Spotless soul-less jewels, all alike. If they were food they would all be cream of wheat, plain.
Not sure what this fad is about, but I admit it sure is easier to throw money at it than to labor over used nuts and bolts. And the after market sure does make it easy to buy stuff. Im guilty. But i get a good feeling when i build, like its mine or part of me sitting there. And i like it.

Change Modify or Replace. It aint never done.

But it’s got a Chevy engine, Ford reared, and the top was cut off a 1933 Ford Tudor Sedan (cur 22 times to fit perfectly) . She’s a monster.

A part that is bought over the counter could also be bought at the Wreckers or Privately so it's what you do with the part that gives it individuality...This has been argued and debated up and down...It isn't 1947...things just aren't that plentiful any more...Not saying there isn't any but what is is limited.

Lots of Showrods get driven...I really have to give credit to those that build Ground-up Show & Go Hotrods (I'm not one of them)...I will not judge by trailer...It's generally what options are on the table when getting to a destination really.

I enjoy the driven look over show myself but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the pride in ownership...
