With the wood inside the deck lid curves like it is I'd say Chevy, '27 or newer. Also the wheel wells so far back indicate a carrell spring set up with the gas tank behind the body.

Is that a real car or a model? The AMT reference makes me hope it is not real. Otherwise someone really messed up a '36 three window one of the prettiest Fords ever made.

This Comp Coupe ran 130's at santa ana in '53 with a Cadillac on fuel.

Come on Sixball look at all those Northern Rustbelters with the bottom half missing...Perfect Candidates...;)

I would not be surprised at all if this was a model based on the real deal...the late 50s to mid sixties would have been the era.

I'm okay with it...I do agree it's a Beautiful Ford Body Year and Style and Radical...it reminds me of that super wide nosed Hybrid Custom/Hotrod Model A back a bit...

I certainly would love to see one that I could walk around and that's where the dreaming comes into play.

What's that saying 'Beauty is in the Eyes of the Beerholder' or is it that song..
    'Just Walk on By'...:D

That Model A coupe is very typical of what a lot of us had in the early 60s. We put our touch on whatever we had but mostly it was done a piece at a time as we could afford it. Bigger mods had to be scheduled around school and work because most of us only had the one car.
Back to the '36 above, it reminds me of the '42-'48 coupe Barris made a mess of for the movie Grease. I think it is still hiding in shame at the Peterson Museum in LA. For me the purpose of a custom is to improve on the looks of the stock design. With '36 Fords that is not easy to do. It has been done many times but it not easy and those that have been done successfully walk the fine line of homogenization. They are mostly maroon or black but what works works.

Despite the lack of Hamb friendly up this way there just happens to be a clone or perhaps the real deal of that Grease Machine and if I had to choose I would Melt Pavement to get to that 36...:D

That Grease Machine is a somewhat modern creation...the Hamb era was lost on that...

It is still surprising there isn't an actual real deal Inspiration for this Hybrid...

So this was an inspiration of Dave Shuklis and his modifications to this Standard 36 Ford Model were included in the Model Kit so there you go...I personally feel he may have been inspired from something he saw as there was a lot of wild going on back in the early 60s...

Hamber @rbantique's content I find to be some of the most interesting peeks into what was going on back in the day in Hotrod/Custom.

I have borrowed and shared his content many times. His business exposes him to incredible amounts of visual treasures from the past and this is one from his collection...

I really find these glimpses helpful in rounding out questions of what it was like on the street away from the mags and shows...This may have been an in work shot as I don't see a plate but that doesn't mean there wasn't one on the back and what you are seeing just what the Hoodlum wanted...
