I watched an episode of them building that car. Seems most of the odd choices were ideas of the owner.
Gee, what color should I paint the wheels! Customs are about art, you either get it or you don't. Unfortunately, I see a lot of "don't" in this thread. In other words, I like it!!!!!!!!!
I find the show fairly interesting, (better than most- no fake drama), but, ever notice that the guy NEVER blinks? Weird.....
They ( now just who the hell "they" is/are? I'm uncertain) but they say that "art" is anything that causes an "emotion" while experiencing it. Doesn't have to be a positive emotion either. I'm not a big fan of Ian's work but that doesn't mean anything because he's gone farther quicker than I have with his skills and his vision than I have with mine. I don't "get" the vision, I don't understand the execution, I wouldn't build the same way, and again that doesn't mean anything. This builder is "in tune" with what emotions the masses want to experience.
Maybe it's just me but... I'm not sure what to think,it's a custom that seems like it is better suited to the indoor over the top custom car shows of the 1960's. Many of them were not drivable and were built with a eye to the future. It is apparent that a lot of time & money was spent to create the car,,did it met the owners expectations?,I don't know. HRP
Ian Roussel is on a show called "Full Custom Garage" on MAVTV. http://www.mavtv.com/shows/full-custom-garage.html
I don't hate it and I've certainly seen worse looking customs. I think HRP is right about the 60's show car thing. Nothing wrong with that.
I can't imagine spending that much time and effort on that paint and then parking it on a dirt lot to take pictures. There had to be some concrete nearby to take pictures on, or maybe I'm just missing the artistry intended in that photo. I would like to see more pictures, that's for sure.
