Three Joplin cars damaged in accident on trip home from KKOA

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 47Plym, Jul 29, 2010.

  1. There were four cars from Joplin returning home Sunday from the KKOA
show in Salina. A friend told me the story today- he knew the names of the
owners and I can't recall them now. If I understood him right, one car
ran low or out of gas, out in Kansas. The other 3 pulled over to the shoulder
to wait on him. While sitting there, a car was coming the other way, pulling a
U Haul type trailer. Apparently the driver fell asleep just as he approached
the stopped cars - and swerved toward them.

The first fellow, in a 50 Merc, saw it coming and tried to pull ahead out
of the way, but was clipped on the left rear. Then the second vehicle,
a very nice 38 or39 Chevy, was hit hard in the front and down the
drivers side. The car then hit the third stopped vehicle (I think it's a
34 Ford coupe) in the front.

The gentleman in the Chevy had some minor
injuries as I understand it. Two of the cars had to be transported home
and the Merc drove slowly under it's own power. Hopefully I'm not too
far off on the story. I think some of those fellows may be HAMBers,
don't know how active they are.

I took a picture of a photo my friend had of the Chevy........and the
Merc in the background. Haven't gone out to see the cars in person
yet. Perhaps one of the participants will chime in here.

Man, you never know what can happen.........

Thank god no one was killed. Who would have thought, sitting on the side of the road? Life is stranger than fiction. Hope the injured people have no lasting disabilities. Also hope the vehicles can be fixed.

  12. Thoughts for a quick recovery, its sad to see the cars damaged but they can be fixed or replaced its our fellow hot rodders that we really like to hang out with, the cars are just the excuse to get together.

  13. Our prayers go out to the folks and hopefully they are okay. The mental stress alone has to be amazing of all this!

That's what I'm saying. What are the odds?

We've been hearing a lot of stories like this, just yesterday I was reading about the HAMBer with the T-Bucket who got in an accident with a police cruiser.

    What are the odds...

Hopefully, someone jammed his driver's license up his ass sideways. Or at least have his insurance go through the roof.
