Don't throw it out. Send it to me. I will even pay shipping. I'd be glad to help you get it out of your way. CTJ

i have a moon water recovery tank that looks like a small fuel tank. i modified the cap by putting a moon 3 prong knockoff cap on it. it has always done the job and most people think it is a fuel tank. i got mine from Honest Charley @ the Charlotte Auto Fair. they have them all the time..........................

When this thread started I didn't have a "Moon tank" on my Austin gasser. Now I've got my Falcon gasser on the road, and found a tank at a local swap meet cheap, so I put it on the Falcon and connected it to the radiator as an overflow tank.
The Austin is so small that a Moon tank would take over the whole frnt end, but the big grille area on the Falcon has tons of space for it!

The ol' 'Nooner' had a 1 gallon Moon tank on the front of his refrigerator white '55 'Hi-Boy'.
He kept it filled with white Rhine...recycled it by 9:00 A.M. at every run. (than again at 10:00, and quarter to 11...)

I was planning to use mine to hold windshield washer fluid for a water/methanol injection system, but I haven't bought any parts yet so details are still sketchy at best.Figured it would be a good way to keep the motor out of detonation under boost.

Has anyone seen or heard of ethanol etching the aluminum tank innards?

  25. Ethanol does not etch aluminum! Ethanol attacks zinc, zinc is one of the metals in the alloy often called "pot metal" which many older carbs are made from. Pot metal or more correctly "White Metal" is often confused with cast aluminum. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pot_metal
