Put a few gallons of gas in the tank. Hook up a hose to the fuel line and watch how the gas flows out, if it's not peeing a good stream the fuel shutoff valve has crap in it. I had this problem once same results that you're having. Pull the valve and get the crud out of it and the tank. Snyders and others sell a mesh filter that goes into the valve before you put it back into the tank. They also sell a replacement glass bowl that they sell a filter for. All good investments that will save you headaches down the road.

It definitely has a GAV I just don't have the choke rod. It was missing when I bought the car.

Got the title in!!! Being in North Carolina it had me a little worried. Believe it or not this was the deciding factor on me buying this car. Haven't really made any progress, we went from having a monsoon to fairly cold weather. Hopefully I'll be able to get something accomplished tomorrow.

Picked up a couple more pieces to the puzzle. I scored this 32 shell last night thanks to jonnybright and my friend came through on a choke rod today. To all of you saying check the gas flow from the tank, you were correct. I ran it out of gas last week and I guess some crud got sucked into the shut-off valve. I blew some air backwards through the line and now she's running like a champ! I finally got to take it on a successful test drive. I'll post the video in just a few.

Great! Now, get one of those press in screens for the stock petcock from Snyder's or wherever and make that problem go away and stay away. Ya pull the petcock off, push it in the top of the petcock, screw back in and you're good to go.

Took the Roadster for a little cruise around the compound. This is part 1. Had to turn the camera off when I got stuck...

Here's a few pictures from yesterday's shenanigans. I'm going to try to get lights on this thing and hopefully go get the tags Friday. I'd really like to find a windshield too. 20200223_180745.jpg

I should probably fix this. Does anyone know if waterproof grease will slow it down until I can replace the water pump?

  17. Have you tried to tighten the nut? I believe there is a lead gasket/bearing that you deform and tighten around the axle to stop the leak?

I couldn't get the nut to move. I'm going to try soaking it in pb blaster.

Glad to see that Down East Street Rods plaque on your car. That club was formed in my living room many, many moons ago. I know it's still very active and that warms my heart. Good luck, and keep up your very interesting posts.

Finally got the hardware so I could mount the windshield. A combo of reproduction parts and original parts made it much more complicated than I had anticipated.

There's a few pics of the glass installed. Now I've got to figure out a way to clean it!

Got the tags today! Registered as a 1930 Ford Roadster. If you've ever tried to register an old car in North Carolina you know exactly how big of a deal this is.

Time to get some lights on this thing. I started out by cutting the ends off of the stock headlight bar. A little convincing with the torch and they worked perfectly. I'll change out the hardware as soon as I have a chance. The taillights are just some cat eyes that I had laying around. They too are temporary. Now it's time to take her up the road... 20200311_181733.jpg 20200311_181744.jpg 20200311_190543.jpg 20200312_094044.jpg 20200312_100313.jpg 20200312_104734.jpg 20200312_104728.jpg 20200312_180240.jpg

when you cut that bar off maybe leave half of it with each cup... it is handy as leverage when twisting the light mounts …. I always tilt the cups down [tilting forward] or the lights won't adjust low enough to work...

Yea I learned that the hard way. I ended up using a big adjustable wrench. Made it difficult to make each side match.
