And if I could afford a garage, I'd be in it when it rains/gets cold here instead of on this stupid fucking chatterbox.

Couldn't let the Germ have the last say on this topic, and it needs to float back up to the top again for all the lame brains that think this is a So-Cal donut run or sumptin.

3. Well said. And for those who treat it like a launching pad for charity drives.

4. This is just a suggestion..mabye there should be one more forumn for other stuff like pinstriping, etc..topics that kinda has to do with traditional rides...just a thought

I think that the focus on trad rides is great, as an admirer more so than an artist I spend more time reading than posting, so as not to expose my lack of knowledge

That said, I also think the multiple bashings is a major waste of space & time. Instead of spending time bashing someone for something stupid they post, ignore them completely, it gets the message across much better.

Now, I need to know what everybody prefers.... boxers or briefs.

7. Ryan:

let me first say to you that you have one heck of a good board here,,

and i couldnt agree more with what you are saying....

my idea of traditional is building most of the car yourself, and doesnt really relate much to the year or make,, but i guess there needs to be a cut off somewhere..

kind of like one the "justice's" on supreme court back in the 70's in reguard pornography.. "i can't define pornography, but i know it when i see it"

i guess you can't be anymore subjective than that!
and along those lines,, i cant define traditional either, but i know it when i see it!! as subjective as that is.

perhaps rather than defineing what is or is not traditional, maybe you could relate the types of posts you don't want on the hamb.

i hate when this post comes up, cause everyone agrees with ryan but its half of you that are making the OT posts and replying to them and making them stay at top
i just dont reply to them, sure sometimes i read them and thats it, everyone is guilty even i am, posting OT posts is just another way of saying that you are bored or maybe some of you want to ante up your posts so you can be all mighty king hamb members, who gives a fuck
some OT posts are pretty funny but when theres a billion of them then it gets slow around here, sometimes slow is good, you dont have to post everything you do to your car, like "HEY I PUT OIL IN MY CAR, WHAT WEIGHT DO YOU USE?" i use 10-40 quaker state, thats just dumb

9. I'm not replying to this post....

If anyone would like to explane to me What number of changes can you do to your rod and still add up to being a HAMB traditional..Would putting anything out of sight out of mind type changes go ? How about being limited, to what you can buy over the counter and have installed, by someone else?If You like here goes my favorit, having all being keept in a class or brackets by there seniors ,as long as they have the same needs of mutual enjoyment as we all seam to have, and just enjoy the comoRODery of hamb .with out the pissing contests of corse. Most hotrods I think of from my area never had paint, some never had floor-boards most only ran one weekend and was scrapted after the run that they were most rembered for.As i see it , most of all, not a one would have made it to a car show we just had fun with seeing what we could do with what we had to work with and had fun doing it with friends with the same mutual interest.

Ryan,
I stumbled onto this board in 1997 and was pleased, PLEASED! to see people interested in the cars I loved. Isn't it obvious(?) fro0m the title here?
Jalopy Journal?
Hokey Ass Message Board.
Get it?
Nothing is technical and electronic. Everything is scratch made or in needs of help from those who have been there(see posts from AV8, C-9 Old Beet) and others.
Amazing to me that the CIC(commander in Chief) has to step in and tell y'all that.
Geeez.

we used to see post's from cole, R.F. Weesner, Mcphail and the guys from cali. then came some smart mouths saying hey who are you this is MY board then ryan came in said wham you guys get it together, then we had a bunch of new guys and all of a sudden the car talk is gone cheep talk is big and by golly if ya dont like it i'll kick your ass.... well don't see much posting from these names anymore don't hear much about the hamb and the bigguns watching us in the mags so where is this going from here i dont know but one thing is fer sure .... there is alot of people on here alot more then in the garage coming up with problems and needing help from some others or coming up with good ideas to share with others. which is maybe why we have a loss in the guys that i would like to talk to and get ideas from and maybe someday have enough wisdom to pass it on to someone else. which is why i've been spending more time in the shop then wondering whats going on here and looking at it everyday, so in turn i get more done and learn more but i aint sharing my wisdom so there ! but i did see monkey at the ottawa show and had a great time and my buddie with a 30 p.u running small block chev, 4 speed and totaly built for speed got best kustom , which explains alot really cause the club has had a turn over, so maybe thats why they have only 1 charter member left. so in a nut shell what the hell is going on out there ? a true old style hot rod pu getting called a kustom ? should have seen some of the street rod awards, we need to get to schoolin some o' these folks i tells ya ! anyway had a great time seems as tho all the kool stuff might have been at the goodguys show might try it next year but man i cant see paddin a guys pocket that much, which is what started out ruining this hobby is money, which made the jalopy become fast which made it look good which turned to a street rod.......could go on forever, just my 2 cents which aint worth a plug nickel.

Switchy, My CPU accessed the disk drive too. It didn't throw up an error, but it did that humm-whirr-click thing that it does when it accesses my floppy drive. Wierd - what kind of computer do you have?

The rubber magnet-seal around my 30-something year old refrigerator is cracking. I don't want to replace it because the compressor sounds like a Model T rear end at 60 MPH so whatkind of glue should I use to repair it?
Silly-cone or Butyl Rubber or?

If I gotta explain, you ain't gonna understand anyway....

If you are not interested in talking about either, go away. Not only have their been a lot of OT posts that I've had to delete lately, but there are also a lot of non-traditional posts. There are other message boards for that stuff.... This is not a cute and sweet community with lots of compassion for all things "street rod" - this board was built to be focused on the traditional and thats how it will stay... Please be conscious of that.

I think it means that even if you want 18s & 20s on your ride , this ain't the place to talk about it. Some people remember this post even before it gets kicked back to the front page. All the automotive expertise in the world doesn't give a person the right to think they can get past the rules Ryan has put in place.
