If that’s a glass fuel filter it should and would go straight in the trash.

I'm so far from liking any type of patina on anything but a old sign,it always looks like its going to crap too me. Repect cars by fixing it!

Thanks for all the responses, guys. Glad you enjoy seeing it.

I quoted DB above because I too HATE what people call "patina" today - usually a car that's had decades of total neglect, is rusted to hell....and they LEAVE IT like that and expect others to think it's cool. It's neglect and abuse.

I LIKE what I consider "real patina" - a car that's been so well cared for over it's long life of actual use that maybe the paint has been polished through to the factory primer or even to bare metal in spots. Chrome that has lost its sheen in places but still looks great around the edges because it's been carefully polished over the years. Yeah, this is a rant but I consider the bad "patina" I described as just a click or two better than the rat rods with saw blades and shit welded onto them. Out!

    Yikes! Some punctuation please.
I can't tell what the hell you're trying to say or how it applies to this old car.

I thought that paint looked like many coats of lacquer, that sat in the sun for years.

I too saw this car in Temple City at the 99 cent store.
It’s been about 2 yrs ago though. The car looked just like the pix.
The guy is a teacher, may be Auto Shop teacher in West Covina? I had a nice conversation with him about his hot rod. Yes, the wheels were what he had.
This is his daily. There is a plate on the car, but it’s tucked way underneath.
It’s a steel build with original stuff that he bought probably 40 yrs ago.
I told him that I had a deuce, he was Kool. I had to go, as did he so I thought that I’d see it again locally,
Who knew that it would wind up on the HAMB????
