Event Coverage The XO/PP Virginia HAMB Special Is Ready for Bonneville!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by TomT, Aug 4, 2018.

  1. Well gents, we are there - time to hit the road, Jack, as we are as ready as we are going to be - we leave tomorrow night around 9 PM. The plan is to drive straight through to KC, which is about half way, make another good dent on Tuesday and arrive late Wed afternoon. There's three of us going so one guy drives, one navigates, one sleeps. We are all so pumped real sleep is not yet in the cards for us. Besides, there's plenty of time to sleep after Bonneville, right?!?!

I will post updates daily, bringing you along with us, sittin in the driver seat with Dave as he makes his runs, showing you as much as possible of our daily activities as we make our best attempt at breaking the record in our class.

Here are some pics as we first began loading the trailer ....

The board you see is our drop down work bench .... more pics tomorrow of the fully loaded rig ....

  2. Good Luck and safe travels! You guys are going to have soooo much fun, can’t wait to see your reports!!

Safe trip fellas, appreciate being involved as Official Hamb Keyboard Fan Support and its funny that saying about Broken Records is usually negative but in this case its what we all want...No Compromise...You worked hard for that we know. Have a blast you earned it...;)

Make sure you bring containers for water especially if you plan on keeping the truck looking good. They can be empty and u can fill them when you get to Wendover. I always brought a Hudson sprayer to "wash" my race vehicles after every run especially the ones with fenders. I probably went thru 10 gallons of water a day. 10-20 old terry cloth towels are a must.

Remember a broom for the trailer and a way to wipe shoes going in it. I also had a 3foot square carpet to set at the door of my race vehicle to take off my shoes and put on race shoes. Kept the inside a lot cleaner. If not doing it that way, stand infront of the carpet, lift one leg, have some one brush off the shoe, step on the carpet, repeat for the other shoe.....you would be suprised how clean you can keep your stuff it you just think....SALT is not your friend..

When you set a new record, is that going to bring about a new t-shirt design? Just looking ahead. Keep the thread going with your progress on the salt.

That sure is a lot of trailer. I sometimes wounder if we cause ourselves more grief towing these things around than it's worth. I always used an open trailer. In '93 I finally sprung for a store bought trailer. Electric brakes. Springs. Hydraulic tilt. Winch so I could load by myself. I thought I hit the big time.
