I picked this shell up at a swapmeet last weekend and don't know what year or model it is I need help deciphering what it is, it looks that most the inner structure was wood, its mostly gone, theres lots of nails and bolts where the wood used to be, the door has a interesting hinge, the top half is as tall as the window, the visor has a small peak design in the middle , the trunk hinge is setup for a rumble seat,
Looks Essex- Hudson (ish) to me. IIRC Hudsons still used wood while Essex were all steel. Another reason I think this is the absence of anything on the top to connect the A, B,C posts together. originally, this was an enormous piece of wood that changes planes about 4 times, and was beyond my skill set to reproduce when I was doing my Essex. I made new steel and connected it that way.
I believe you have a 1930-31 Willys-Knight model 87 coupe, it looks very similar to mine, Thanks, Josh. Very Rare.
that looks the same to me, thank you, is there a club or board on the net that specializes in these cars?
Not quite full length, but from very close to top to lower 1/4. Hudson/Essex door open smooth as silk and hang straight but don't hit that door and deform that hinge....whew.
Check the Willys Overland Knight Registry for info, they have a little. I am still trying to find info on mine, not much luck. I've got a complete set of fenders and running boards if interested. If you need additional pics or measurements, just let me know. It's cool someone else has one.
Willys Knight Whippet 29-31 is my guess. Looks like mine. Here is the thread on mine http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=782086
That firewall with the the center depression looks just like the cowling we pulled from the creek last year about a mile from my office. It also has the center hole in the dash like yours. Our HAMB experts decided it must be a Whippet too... Wish we had the entire body...
