. It's been an interesting few weeks for me to say the least. As the hot rod driving season was winding down here in Michigan, I was slowly getting started on the redo of my '32 Tudor. The funds to really get serious about the sedan build were tied up in my '33 truck which was for sale, but hadn't found a new home yet. So I got the Tudor blown apart, the body blasted and figured I would peck away at the cheap stuff until the truck sold. Then it happened... Out of the blue, I get a Facebook message from John. The message says "I'm 90% sure I'm selling the coupe. Do you want me to let you know if I'm going to before I list it anywhere?". I was really surprised by the massage for a few reasons. First, John has a lot of history with the coupe (more on that later) and I never dreamed John would sell the coupe - EVER. Secondly, I figured there would be a line of people ten deep poised to snatch the car up if he ever did. The fact that he reached out to me, although kind of puzzling, was truly an honor. So here I am being presented an awesome opportunity, but I have one car in pieces and no money because my truck hasn't sold yet. What to do, what to do???? Of coarse I told John I would be very interested and to let me know if he decided to sell. The day before Thanksgiving I get the message he is ready to sell. In the mean time I was able to put together a deal on the truck and free up some cash. So on December 1st I headed up and made a deal on the Traveller. I still can't believe that this thing sits in my shop. Here is a little photo dump of a few of John's adaventures in the coupe... .
. Thanks guys. I definitely feel lucky to have the coupe. Since the weather has been unseasonably nice up here, I have been driving the car every chance it get. I've only owed the car a week and put about 100 miles on it, but it already feels "right". Kind of like an old pair of work boots that just fit perfectly. As far as plans for the car, nothing big. I'll change out the wheels and tires for something that is a little more me. I might also swap out the headlights and drop the rear bumper or change it to a '41 deluxe bumper. other than that, I'll just tidy it up a little and drive the wheels off of it. Here is a couple of pics I snapped yesterday. I was experimenting with a wheel and tire swap. The rubber is the wrong size, but I like the direction it's headed. .
Did john keep the peace hand off the antenna, or did you take it off? I'm happy you got the car Dave, and that you are enjoying it so much already.
. Thanks @millersgarage . John did keep the peace hand as well as a few other trinkets off the car. .
One of my favorites! I was lucky enough to get a ride in that car a few years ago, and I have been in love with it ever since!
