Good news on your son and the shotgun passenger. Hopefully the same for the young lady in the rear seat. JMO but never apologize for life or family emergencies making for delays. I know the entire HAMB family is here for you and always will be and understands. Just one of the reasons I just renewed my Alliance membership. Thanks for everything and try to get some rest (easy for me to say). Tomorrow is another day.
Wow, how terrible. sending positive thoughts to you, kids in car and their Family members. a very difficult time for all. in High School my '55 Chevy was totaled when hit from behind by a drunk driver traveling at speed. so, know some of what all of you are dealing g with. Take care
Glad it wasn’t worse that’s some scary shit. I can’t help but laugh and think that writer is not only a hotrodder but knows exactly who that red 40 belongs to. Written in a way that is both descriptive and romantic. Good find /post. Hope everyone heals up easily.
Ryan, sorry to hear of your family's tribulations. I wasn't aware you had children, so double whammy. I understand the pride this endeavor must bring you, truly something from nothing. However, family comes first and if you miss some self imposed deadline, I for one won't be affected greatly.
So glad to hear your son and buddy are good in shape. Prayers for the young lady that was with them as well as for their mental state. Being in a wreck no matter how small always seems to creep into your brain in weird ways.
Glad everyone is OK. Family before us hooligans, I love your articles but if I have to wait a day a week or a month while you attend to your families needs so be it. Take care Dan
Can not say I know your physical state. My daughter had the experience of a stolen car T-Bone'g her Destroyed her car shoving it onto the sidewalk, broke her back. Here is a Wish that your group will move on with their plans and activities. As a parent tho I was on the road Hauling freight and was told of it after the fact. She had surgery that I did show for. She was tasked with a change in occupation due to the pain. As for your feature,, before reading, just looking at the photos my thought was, as always,,, Nothing says hot like a Forty without a hood. Hope Rest Comes to You. Thank You
Thankfully, your Son and passengers are going to be OK, although for a Parent it doesn’t take away from the “ what if” factor. Give them all a hug ( if you haven’t already)!!! I would Love to see that 40 taking those corners at 60……and the straights , too!
Driver was arrested for misdemeanor DWI-B. That's all I can say about that here. We just got back from the doctor. Miller has a concussion and a thousand little cuts from glass. I don't think it's too bad, but I guess time will tell. The little girl that was in the hospital is now at home and super sore... Time will tell on that too. I've always grown attached to my kid's friends, but have never gotten to know many of their parents. I've learned from this that good kids come from good people. All the parents have been really amazing. **** In any regard, did anyone read the article about the red '40? I dug that up a few years ago and have meant to post that story. It's crazy to me... I need to spend some time and research the incident more.
Man, glad your kid is ok, drunk drivers are fucking idiots, I hate that shit. On a side note a guy in our car club arranged an old car cruise to a winery for wine tasting and adult beverages at his place before the event.. what the hell????
Best wishes for the kids healing. Regarding the shiny red forty story, I have been a San Mateo county resident almost continuously since 1970, nine years later. Not anyone I know/knew is still around who could possibly identify the car. Andy Brisio would likely have known exactly who it was. Probably some great stories about that night.
From one Dad to another, thinking about you guys today. Glad everyone is OK, or as OK as they can be. Cheers, Harv
Man, a close one. I'm glad everyone will eventually be ok and heal up. Concussions and any head injury are serious at any level. So lucky it wasn't worse. Prayers for a speedy recovery.
I avoid cruises and shows that advertise "booze". Its bad enough with sober spectators with baby carriages.
Glad the kids are ok!!…..as another parent I can say with experience….that first time you get a call, that one of your children has been in an accident…..takes a few years off your life…..
I read most of what I could pull up but couldn't read the entire clipping. Not sure if I did something wrong or not. But what I did read was amazing.
I'm glad your son and the other passengers are ok. I hate you all are having to go through this kind of crap. I just don't understand some people and their lack of common sense and carelessness when it comes to being responsible? Godspeed to you and your family.
Glad all concerned are okay. Sounds like maybe the officers were embellishing the story a little to make up for their own shortcomings.
@Ryan, '61 was when my brother was born, we lived in Pacifica. You could go through the Half Moon Bay and Fremont dragstrip historys, but I have a feeling that they were a street racer and probably kept a low profile, not going to sanctioned events. My dad was a new father and wasn't tuned into the racers, also he's no longer with us, so I can't ask him.
Glad it’s looking positive for the kids. There simply is not a reason for this crap to keep happening.
Sorry to hear about Miller and friends. Sending healing thoughts everyone’s way. As far as the article goes, that’s right in my neck of the woods. And you know what? I may have stumbled upon the very car last week. Not surprisingly, the ad is gone. This thing was cheap. I sent it around trying to find a H.A.M.B.er to buy it. Was it the car? Could be. Maybe someone knows more to the story…
Concussions are bad stuff.....whether they happen in football......racing.....or being the victim of an idiot. I am not a medical professional......and you are a smart guy, but I have had the experience of our daughter having a concussion and there can be hidden or lingering effects. We were very fortunate to have access to Univ. of Wisconsin sports medicine experts and they really helped us on the journey. What you do now, will also help if there are ever any repeat events down the road.....as we are all too familiar with in the sports and racing world. Best wishes to everybody
