Far out the car looks awesome! Its a credit too you and its owner. The one question I have is when you tig, how do you get such an even "stack of coins" look on the weld? I can acheive it but not that defined. What size filler rod do you use at what sort of amps say on a 1/4 inch thick steel? Do you completely pause the torch?
    Thanks
    Andy.

I don't get much better than that! You have great vision and the talent to bring it to life!

  5. This has to be the first Friday that I have gone all the way thru a thread before checking out the Friday Art Show. Brian is an artist and this is as good (or better) than the art show.

REALLY love that car Bass...it is absolutely done right...if I build a roadster I will look at it again as inspiration....exceptional....certainly in the line of great roadsters...

That's a great looking car. I missed it at the GNRS and I have a sinking feeling that I somehow missed building 3 altogether. The background doesn't look familiar either.

If you left building 4 (the AMBER contenders building) from the front doors and turned left you'd find #3. Kinda sat in front of the NHRA building. Sorry to say you missed the nicest roadster at the venue in my opinion.

Bass/Steve, AWESOME roadster. Photos don't do it justice. I can't wait to see it rolling down Congress in April. Hats off to the both of ya and it was wonderful seeing and chatting with you both last weekend.

I got to meet Steve on our booth with his very polite Texan son , great family with a stunning car , as has been said it is better in person , Very nice, simple ,less is more Hot Rod , the way I like 'em.The interior lives up to the Texas Playboy monica in a tongue in cheek way I love it. Nice one Brian.

Yes, I think his screen name is his last name Ernst??

As I was chatting with Steve's son I was thinking to myself won't it be neat to see him start to hang out with Danny daughter Danyelle. They are both such great kids. I didn't say anything to him in person about it cuz I didn't want to embarass him about a girl. :D

Fine looking work Mr. Bass! The interior is icing on the cake...
Love the way the stance turned out.

  25. Killer roadster Mr.Bass!!

  26. Brian, beautiful car. An artist you are, beyond doubt.

Steve, good on you for leaving it in Brian's hands and trusting him to do his thing. Glad you went with the bigger chrome pile and the quick change, too. Pleasure meeting you this weekend!

I'm sorry to say I misssed this car too. People who haven't been to the GNRS don't understand the size of it. I walked for at least 12 hours over the weekend and still managed to not see everything. Maybe next time I'll have a better strategy.

I have a question regarding the steering box and drag link-pitman arm.

I noticed you have it bent to clear the wishbone and also that it hangs down, causing the steering link from the pitman arm to the spindle to run uphill at a pretty good angle compared to the run of the wishbone.

Will this cause any issues ? Bumpsteer or ?

I was under the impression that the steering link from the pitman arm should run on the same plane as the wishbone and be somewhat parallel ?

Congratulations on building a beautiful traditional hiboy roadster. The style is true to the era and the quality is way above the norm. Super Car!
