Amazing build. You are a true craftsman. Can't wait to see the finished car at the GNRS. Do you know what number building it will be in ?

Thanks everyone for all the kind words. I just finished up the dash tonight, and I think it looks pretty sweet.

Part 3 of the story might have to wait until I get through with the GNRS...but I'll get it on here as soon as I can.

The car is supposed to be in Building 3. That's the small art gallery building that is on the other side of Building 4 (the big main building), and next to the NHRA museum.

    Thanks again guys!

Figured I would answer some of the questions and comments before I get out in the shop this morning. Here we go...

The water pump itself is a late-60's - early '70s Chevy 250 6cyl. pump. The riser is an early cast iron one, pre-ZIPS. It had three letters cast into it that I ground off....and now I can't remember what they were.

Taking pride in your work has always been correct, no matter the time period. :)

The Daytona is a serious Bonneville car I did all the exterior sheetmetal work on. You can see more of it on my website. Click on the blog, and look for the Daytona.

Thanks! We got really lucky with the top.

I actually don't yet know what class the car will be in at the show. It's supposed to be in Building 3 though...I do know that much.

Yes, that's the idea...and you actually can push and pull the top of the jamb in and out with the turnbuckle. It also helps stiffens everything up a little bit there.

To be perfectly honest, yes...it was fun...but it was still a lot of work. Steve did have some input, but I'm fortunate that he pretty much stood back and let me build the car the way I thought it needed to be built.

I got that from my Dad. I don't know how old it is or where he got it, but it's been pretty handy when working on old Fords. Thanks Dad!

    Not just a rumor...

Yes, I use Gibbs when necessary.

Again, check my blog and look for the Daytona.

Chuck at Brookville was great to deal with. I waited over 5 months for my body.

Yes, it came out of a '57. I don't think anyone has ever used one of these in a Deuce Roadster, but with it all put together it looks pretty natural.

Probably not as much as you would imagine.

Steve and I actually talked about doing chromed '40 Ford 16s on the car, but I thought this hubcap combo fit the style of the car better.

As of right now, I have about 8 weeks labor in the car...but I think about this stuff constantly. Sometimes I feel like it's a curse.

    Thanks guys!

How about LGM??? for Level Green Manufacturing? They were about the only water pump riser available in the early '80's when I built my tudor. Took a late '60's - early '70's 6 cyl pump and had only one mounting bkt. for alt./gen...

As good as it looks, with and without the hood,
it's too bad the body covers up so much of the art. Awesome fabrication.
    Safe trip.

Hands down the most awesome 32 roadster I've seen. Everything is spot on, including the top. Can't wait to see it finished!

  20. It don't matter who's in Austin, Bass is still the King...
All kidding aside Brian, it's the attention to detail that always sets your projects apart from the rest of the crowd, and this is no exception. In fact, I think you will have a hard time topping this one...

May I add, the fact that you can get all this done, and take photos, and post up for us lowly hacks, well, that says a lot about you. Thanks!
