    Dawn at the Lakes

The dawn swept across the landscape. Dusted blue skies, and clouds bathed in the orange and a pink glow. We woke from our surplus tents and layers of wool blankets. Jake had a fire going early and a pot of coffee was percolating. Ned, Jinx and I walked to the roadster.
I stood beside her. Concentrating on the hardened dry lake ahead of me. I took a hard drag off of my Lucky Strike.
Jinx saw the look on my face. He knew.

"Say, man- it's going to be a great day."

    And it was.

Great read and that painting is beautiful. Someone needs to build that.
