    October, 1967
    I had just turned 17
Los Angeles to Eugene, Oregon for an indoor car show with the "Early Times" car club
Some lake on our travels.....looked like it deserved a photo...so....

I jumped out of the Caddy powered Fiat to grab a shot while we fueled up

club President, Bob Darrah, in a Barris built deuce that was the cover car on Popular Hot Rodding photographed somewhere in Northern California.
I got stuck sleeping in it outside of Redding....the "old" guys who were in their 20's got to sleep in closed cars. COLD night for me, but we were on a "run" and I was supposed to be in class in high school, so I didn't care. We were too busy having fun.

Eugene Oregon at the Balboa Drag Strip/Airstrip
This was our "motel" for the weekend while the cars were in the auditorium. One guy in the club crashed his roadster the night before in the rain, but he was banged up but OK. His car got trailered back to L.A.
George "Bushmaster" Schreiber joined us with the "Roth Yellow Fang" dragster. He was the guy who introduced me to beer mixed with tomato juice. Just another weekend for a 17 year old...!!
Jim "Jake" Jacobs, Don Thelan, Bill Booth, Ron Weeks, Bob Darrah, Bob Witt, Leroy Smith and several others made the trip. It was a great road trip.

2004, reunion of the "Vintage Tin" car club....reunited with the Caddy powered Fiat of Leroy Smith's but this was a clone of the one we drove to Oregon 37 years earlier. That's my '34 sedan that I still have today. Leroy still has the Fiat.
The "Vintage Tin" was started in 1969 in my parents living room. It consisted of myself, Leroy, Pete Chapouris, Pete Eastwood, Gary Lorenzini, Bob Hines, Eric Vaughn, Tom Vandenburg, Ed Belknap and a few others.

not exactly a road trip but I always liked this shot of the sedan. It's parked in front of what was Don Nicholson's Speed Shop in Arcadia, California in the early 1950's

been staying close to home lately recovering from back surgery so this is my local view through an 8 inch windshield. I like this view so much I decided to live here for all of my 62 years. :)

Impeccable timing... Thanks for posting this pic. Epic pic of an epic roadtrip to the Roundup. Wish we were braving the elements and testing luck again this weekend

Paso was always a favorite, until it moved to Santa Maria. In 2011 we drove our 40 Ford to the Nationals in Kentucky. This year, we are doing a trip to the Corvette factory in Kentucky in the Corvette!
