Back in the late 60s, a guy painted a American flag on his triumph 650. He wanted to enter the bike in the Omaha car show. They said he was defacing the American flag and would not let it in

There was a red white and blue early corvette here. The flag covered most of the car

    Hello,

In drag racing, it took all kinds of vehicles in the “good old days.” The programs presented from the opening gate was full of racers of all kinds. The little guy with his Flathead 40 Ford Coupe and three carbs, to the modified Competition Coupe with the full on supercharged motor.

But the classes were there to accommodate the different tastes and builds of drag racers. From Stock Car classes to the Top Gas/Top Fuel race cars. It was open to all with a proper safety inspection passed. So, the variety of race cars and spectators packed the local dragstrips every weekend.

Those good old days of participation from most everyone that had some skill in building and racing called dragstrips across the nation home.

So, progress was supposed to improve drag racing, but the progress in terms of technology made drag racing less of a participation activity and more of a TV action series geared to the super high dollar corporate infused action. When someone was asked in the old days about their motor or build, it was all done by the person or friends. Progress? When asked today about the motor or car, the “____ company” products were added for ….and we could not be happier with the support of “________” company products. (They helped us win…etc…) then, the racer would describe the action.

Not so much progress, these days… the backyard garage folks who started the whole thing just got pushed aside and classes started disappearing, until the present day three vehicle competition called drag racing… YRMV

But, it is still a Happy 4th of July, well at least, if the coastal fog clears up, we might get to see some fireworks in our area. It is a tricky time of the year, as the coastal fog is around when we wake up and lasts until 11 am. Then the heated up land takes over and pushes the fog back out into the ocean. So, for the day it is sunny and somewhat warm.

The fog bank out in the ocean is not done as the land cools in the afternoon. Now, the fog sees it chance to come back around for another wall of moisture. As it has been for the last several days, fog in the morning, clear sun and blue sky, then fog in the afternoon into the night sky. If so, the fireworks will go off as scheduled, but unless you are directly on the beach with your warm jacket on, all it will be is a show of a glowing brightness up in the foggy clouds.

Note: In order to get around this phenomenon, some cities have contracted out for what is called a lower angle of fireworks. Meaning the bright glow as we usually see it high up in the air will be closer to the ground for a better view for all. It might work… HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July. I went back thru my posting on this thread and found I had duplicated some photos. So, I guess, I owe you a few more. 332161479_606056761356426_7405321509182283949_n.jpg 351118469_645758704078014_7062959730916302754_n (2).jpg 163z.jpg DSCF9088.JPG IMG_8909_zpssejhjvzc.jpg _DSC6562.jpg
