There were a lot of interesting cars and bikes. The best place to see them if you couldn't get into the pit was at the staging area at the corner of Lincoln and Atlantic.

There was a turbocharged Model A, an inline 6 Hudson rail, an inline 4 cylinder Henderson motorcycle and a bunch of antique Harleys and Indians. By far the biggest collection of cool real cars and bikes I've ever seen.

Saturday morning, the guy who was running that belly tank was fixing the canopy latch and his breathing tube with electrical tape, because safety first when you are riding inside a gas tank. Gene Winfield was there Sunday morning in a deuce roadster that I've seen somewhere on the internets.

I have a lot of pictures, but there not very good quality so I'm only gonna post few that show some stuff I haven't seen elsewhere, if I can figure out how to do it.

He fixed the breather tube so he could taste the exhaust- didn't want to waste any of that $8 a gallon gas!! That's engine diagnostics up New Hampsha!

"Marvel Mystery Oil" was a BIG sponsor of this event. They were giving away t-shirts, shop clothes and other stuff. They also built a rail job to race, but I didn't get pics of it. I DID get a picture of this young lady who was working at their booth.

DSCN3945.JPG "Mr. Freeze", DBA "Mr. Breeze" , another New Hampshire entry.
Brought some mist to my eyes to watch the old girl go down the track, but she's in good hands.
Looked great, and ran great too- congrats, Bill!

Great photos, thanks for taking the effort to take them and share them. The cars are great and some of the bikes that were there and racing look like they escaped from a museum or collection for a weekend. Even a mid 60's Honda Super hawk like one of the first bikes I assembled after going to work in a Honda bike shop in 1964.

  24. Great Pics. Thanks for posting.

This is a really nicely detailed 337 Lincoln Flathead V8. Pretty Frickin' cool in my book.

I thought it was cool that he showed up with fenders on and took them off
I don’t know much about about Gene Winfield, but he’s pretty much a badass.

I would say that’s not the case.

Some of the “outside the show” pics could be misleading.
I’m not sure, but I don’t know if trog has anything to do with that.
This is quite similar to my feeling.

I was lucky enough to attend as a racer this year.
Way different experience, I would admit.
Here’s two shots from standing on my rear tire, waiting in line to race.
I’m not much for taking pictures, probably only took 10 the whole weekend.

The pits the first day, were a complete shitshow.
Mobbed with spectators who may or may not have gotten out of your way or looked up from their phone as you speeded toward them.
This combined with what I believe was way more racers than typical in prior years added to the chaos.

The beach/sand conditions apparently were not ideal either.
It was explained to us, there was quite a bit of sand relocated from the beach for whatever the reason that resulted in a much more unstable surface to run on.
It had to be leveled more frequently which caused delays between races.

There were a few accidents, and injuries to a couple riders were severe.
I don’t really know the guys, but did meet them the night prior and shot the shit for a while.
I heard they were doing well today and getting released from the hospital, but have a hard road ahead. Godspeed.

One other problem, I never considered before I was stuck in line waiting..
The tide comes in and narrows your race lane.
You have to,start squeezing down lanes
Anyway, just trying to put it in perspective

2nd day, good weather, no rain and they limited the pits to only drivers.
    Made for a great day.
Don’t know what else I could’ve asked for.

Yes. Pits were smaller this year and packed! It was chaos for sure Saturday am. I literally saw Aaron Kaufman move 15 feet in one hour. I felt bad for all racers. Imagine last year when it was 90 degrees.

No matter what, after being there, it really put it in perspective what this group of guys go through to put on this show. Dealing with the city, police, insurance, idiot spectators....
Half(most) of us driving around all weekend in illegal vehicles.
It’s amazing it even gets pulled off, and there’s a lot of fun going on the whole time.
I might not go every year, but if you like traditional cars, there’s not a better show.
And probably I’ll attempt to build a new car for next year.

One last thing, and just my opinion.
The quality of cars that they accept, is high (except my car).
Most of them had great attention to detail, and not a lot of new parts on them.
Seems like most of the guys and gals put a lot of effort into them.
Some of the cars were actually built in the old days, a couple taken from museum exhibits or barn finds.
The bikes are as amazing as the cars, if not more so.
