And here it is, a simple idea I have had for awhile.
    Not so simple to execute...

I started with a customized '51 Mercury I pulled from the internet. If this is your car, my apologies in advance for the photo-butchery!

I did a quick photo sketch to start, to see if I liked the idea. It looked pretty good but then I realized the car needed re-proportioning.

So I un-chopped the roof, raised it, and changed the slope. I moved the rear window up, then down, then up again. Then shortened it. And finally removed it altogether!

The rear fender line was extended an inch.

The front headlight bucket was raised two inches or so.

Then I cut the groove. I first stopped at the front door break and looked it over. So far, so good. I progressively moved it forward trying several looks. Eventually, I carried it through to the very front, just because I've never seen anything exactly like that.

And just because I can't leave anything alone, I decided to lengthen the back window.
    Improved the proportions, I think

I would not go to low in the back, just a bit lower than the front. In fact I even raised the front a little to get better proportions. To low in the back will not look good with such a fantastic roof shape. The roof is very stylish with a wonderful flow. The rest of the car needs to follow that.

  6. I might be inclined to remove the side chrome - it´d free you up to do what you want with the new swage line and it looks slightly busy with both.

I think you may be right. I'll give it a shot.

  8. How about this - finish my car :)

I want to get rid of the wheels, it needs some sort of exhaust and finished body work in a dark maroon & black with an offwhite firewall. Anyone up for that challenge??

Sweet, Thanks! You threw me for a loop for a minute there on the pic though. Then I realized you pulled it from my photo album, lol. :D

Anybody able to photoshop my truck? Sorry for the bump but I'm really keen to see what it would look like dropped on steelies!

It's been a while since my previous request to do our Falcon in pink with a black roof. My wife tells me she was hoping for the attached pink. Would one of you fellows be so kind? Thanks in advance.

Red I didn't have any black steelies at the right angle so I threw some chrome ones on there. Hope this works for ya. Eli

Thanks heaps Eli, thats the ride height I was looking for, I don't suppose you have any WW to go with them? or even a white/cream set of steelies?? Here's a side shot.

  16. That's pretty damn cool. Very close to what I want to do. Click and print!

    Thanks!

I took a stab at the WW and steelies here.

  19. Just one that I did for myself. I´ve seen quite a few Morris Minors that were "couped", but although some of them come pretty close, they never looked quite right to me somehow. Thought I´d take a shot at it myself. I laid the trunklid and surrounding metal work forward and couped the top, but with rounded door frames, which I haven´t seen done before.

Starting with factory original two door...

    ...I ended up with this...

...went a bit more kustom with it...

...and then did a Gasser style car, just for fun.

Came out pretty well I think.

They all look really cool James D, nice work! It really adds some life to an otherwise boring little car. Of course, I too am partial to the Gasser style version.:D

  22. Thanks - I think thats my favorite too.

Cool stuffs Mr. James. I dig your vision, and your work is always clean.

I've been grinding out some concepts of my own so I can sleep at night. How about a two-cowl Model A with a hint of Duesenburg?

    Here is one more...

I stole this pic from a thread here, so all apologies to whomever owns the car I butchered.

    A '50's HT with a Fleetline roof.

  27. Like that a lot! You could only drive it while wearing a really sharp suit though and possibly toting a Tommy gun.

Thank you, James D! It does have a classic/aggressive feel, doesn't it?

... And your MM concept is killer! I love odd-ball stuff!
