Does not want to turn easy with a wrench on the front bolt. Might be the grease?

  3. you could put the balancer on and then add two bolts across from each other, get a longer bar and go across the two and see if you can rock that girl loose or do the same by flipping the engine onto the valley and crank from the rear of the crank

You can also put a couple bolts ln the back flange of the crank and turn it from there. Also you may want to wipe the grease out and see if there is an obvious problem.

I am trying to bolt the olds to the adapter to the early ford 3 speed. Are you guys using cap head Allen bolts or countersunk head Allens on the top adapter bolts? I am having issues sourcing either locally.

Countersunk allen screws would be best.

  9. Funny, I ran into, and asked the very same question to a couple of Olds friends on Thursday night. Great minds...

I do not know of a current supplier but call Ross racing engines, they have all sorts of olds stuff and you do pretty much need one for your project.

Are you asking about a starter change over to relocate the starter to the driver side?

If so then they are where you find them.
    No one is recasting them.
If you are using the stock location for the steering box you may have a conflict in that area.
Another option is the mini starter as offered by Ross Racing and others.

If on the other hand you are asking about the starter switch, just use a typical ignition switch.

Centerforce 381040 Clutch Disc Fits 88-94 F Super Duty

or equivalent, assuming you are using the stock stick transmission.
check spline diameter and count as well as total diameter.

the Scout may look the same on paper but will not work, use the Ford

Hey Paul-can you tell me which engine Hilborn developed their 303-0-8 FI unit for? I tried calling Hilborn but their records don't go back that far and all the OG's are gone.

You can run a mechanical fuel pump off a late 70s Buick v6. Not sure if there are any high performance ones or not for that application. There's 2 different Buick v6 pumps the outside will look a little different but one of them will have the right arm.

Do you know what kind of pressure it puts out, and thanks.

I haven't checked it but it's off a carbureted engine so probably a few psi. It works fine with the stock 4gc.

So I see the clutch plate questions above and I'm going to push that a bit farther.
I'm putting a 4-speed Saginaw behind my 303 and due to space I'm going to run a hydraulic throw-out. Now I've found plenty of 11" ford clutch disks that have the center hole sized to fit the Saginaw. But then it gets hard because I've read that the hydraulics require the diaphragm style pressure plate over the three finger pressure plates. One of my Olds guys here said a Flathead Ford pressure plate will fit the stock flywheel. Great...except try to find a 11" diaphragm style Flathead pressure plate.

Anyone know of any other, slightly more modern, 11" pressure plates that fit the stock '49 303 flywheel? If it's GM then I'm sure finding a clutch disk to match that will also fit the Saginaw will not be hard.

On a separate note, the Henry J is finally getting some serious attention and I'll post an update soon.

  29. Can't you reposition one that would work with new holes in the flywheel ? or am I missing something here:confused:
