  2. I think we have a winner. I was figuring late 30’s truck, and the lines match the ‘38 perfectly. Thanks!

I have my Dad's old service station logo and phone number on my door. I did substitute the "Exxon" with a "Ford" logo.

The time period of the early drag racing cars, trucks and vans were mostly based on speed shops, auto body shops, muffler shops where the race car was made. Also, the amount of sponsorship that was spent. Most were the owners or close friends of the place. One such place was Daddy’s Auto Body in the San Fernando Valley region of L.A. Not only did they have a fast, hard charging Buick powered FED that looked like a trophy winning show car, but they traveled all over So Cal to race others, too.

The Buick motors were rotated within the tight circles of the Tommy Ivo group in those early days.

Daddy’s Auto Body winning the A/Gas Dragster class. Look who won the A Street Roadster Class!!!
It was a Road Kings outing at Pomona Dragstrip January 5, 1958.

I am not sure which version of the Daddy’s Auto Body FED is the most intriguing. The yellow version or the one with the famous Tommy Ivo upswept header pipes and fabulous blue flame paint job.

Which model FED is your choice, they were sponsored by DADDY’S AUTO BODY…

    upload_2021-1-6_4-35-10.png Reath/Maillard (a great combo)

Our first sighting of a name on the side of a drag race car was at Lions in 1957-58. The white Model A sedan from the Reath/Mailliard group was as fast as it was loud. That drew the attention of most anyone within hearing distance of the Altered Class race car. The motor being 25% back into the sedan body and the driver sitting in the back seat area gave the power and build to go fast. This sedan was fast and made believers out of the competition.

The first versions of the sedan had made it a favorite among the racers and spectators. Over the years, the sedan was sold as partnerships dissolved and different motors were supplied to make the sedan go faster during the weekly competition. Throughout the whole racing development, build and racing, the one name stayed the same… Joe Reath and Reath Automotive. The build took on many different names and teams, but the stability of Reath Automotive was the key to the fast altered sedan.

Koenig and Sundin sedan, Reath Automotive, Koenig/Pick sedan, ?
Then, just Reath Automotive, and the Dosser Bros. (owned a Jeep dealership in Long Beach, Dosser Automotive)
    Dosser Automotive
    Reath 29 Sedan

The 29 Ford Altered Sedan was a regular at Lion's Dragstrip from the early days and well into the 1960-61 era.
