You will never be fully be rid of mine now that it has dripped its fluids all over your driveway.

  2. If there's anyone I know who could truly use a pickup truck for the work that they do, it's you! It would sure make it easy to transport all of the hoods and top inserts that you're louvering. I was without a truck for a few years and it drove me nuts, not only for the car parts chasing stuff, but also for just doing home improvement stuff around the house. I learned the painful lesson of "never sell a running, driving truck for no reason".

If you decide on a '60-'66, you know just about everybody in Phoenix who's messing with those things, so all you would have to do is make a few calls. Dino is always finding those things and dragging them home. Hell, I've got a pretty healthy parts stash that I would gladly share with you if you scored one!

Just acquired this '66 a couple of weeks ago. It is a true barn find from Mabank,Texas. Its a factory air, auto trans, big window, unmolested truck. Found it buried on Craigslist. Having fun poking around it & thinking of its possibilities. I have owned about a half dozen of these trucks over the years, but never one with all the options as this one. Will stay in touch with progress photos.

I second that, it does no good to explain that your driving 3 hours to look at a potential truck, and your willing to pay if its as good as they claim only to find it needs to be trailered or a rust bucket. It helps to be the first to respond to a new ad, I drove this one home with no trouble and there is absolutely no cancer, i had to paint it right away cause I couldn't stand thinking of pea soup every time I looked at it but it was a good find. I drove 5 hrs to look at a rust bucket. I don't mind small amounts of rust, but everyone I look at, is a pile. just looking swb driver, doesn't have to be anything special.

  13. Are you a member of www.67-72chevytrucks.com ? Don't be mislead by the site name, because the site has forum sections for all years of Chevy and GMC trucks. The 60-66 bunch is a great group of guys, and they're always trying to find trucks for fellow members that reside in areas where trucks have a tendency to rust. It may be a little more expensive, but you may want to consider finding an Arizona or California truck and paying the shipping charge. It's more money up front, but in the long run, it's money well spent.

There are some design features of the 60-66 trucks that make them prone to rusting out the floorboards, rockers, and lower front fenders. A lot of it stems from the cowl drains getting plugged up and holding water. The water has no place to go, and winds up migrating to the rockers and lower front fenders. If you're building one, there's a few tricks you can do to keep that from re-occurring. Also, the shape of the driver and passenger footwells are weird, and they angle down towards the kickpanel and water will always run to that point, rusting out the floorboard. It'll get wet under the carpet or floormat and never be able to drain or dry out.

That was the only pic I took of it, if I haul it again I will take some more. I can tell you it was just as clean underneath and inside as the outside was. It was also sporting the original 6 banger.

This truck is definitely an inspiration...

Naturally aspirated 400 sbc, tunnel ram with two Holleys... Ford 9"... all original steel body and chassis.

The Chevy threw a fit hauling Model A parts home. Building a 9" for her now.

I'm back in the club! Fresh from CA to OH. Lower it down, freshen it up and that's it.

    Later, Bill

Man, I'd put some vintage hub caps on that truck and run it as-is. That's a nice one.

novatattoo, you suck! :).. , I like the truck. I wish mine were in that kind of shape. Maybe one day I will find enough good original parts to put it all together. I'll have to call it patches from being all different colors though. Roll on man, great looking ride.
