Was the crew cab an actual factory truck?
I know Ford and Dodge had ones in the early 69's but this is first Chevy I have seen this old.

Nope, they were coach built...you ordered your truck, and then 6 weeks later the coach builder delivered it.

The 67-72 crews were coach built too...

hey can you use any standard hub cap for original 64-66 rims that they sell at car shows in vendor booths? I was thinking about getting rid of the dog dish hub caps on my '64 C10 and going with something else, but would rather not do a full wheel change. I can't find any information on this, so I thought I would ask.

I haven't owned one of these trucks in over 30 years, in the last year I've got three! a 66 GMC swb fleet side, a 60 Chevy long box stepper and a very rare 60 GMC factory V6 4x4. I am going to make the 60 step side a shop truck, I like that it's a long box step side as you don't see many of those anymore. Not sure what the plan is for the SWB and not into 4x4's so it's for sale. My question is, the 2wd 60 has torsion bar front suspension, has anyone put a set of air bags on the rear of the torsion bars to lift to front end up and down? I'm going to change the front spindles to upgrade to disc's but want to keep the bars for the smooth ride, I'm gonna bag all 4 corners, I want this one to sit really low when it's parked.

Here is the 65 short bed we built for my wife; 350, 700r4, lowered 4" in back & 3" in front. It has a 72 front cross member with disc brakes, the interior is out of an 07 Silverado and it has vintage air. I moved the gas tank to the rear and made a flip down license plate to fill it so there is no cap in the bed. We got rid of the chains and used a hinge kit and hidden latches. We haven't been able to get the front end aligned to where it's really drive able yet. I've had 2 shops work on it and finally got it where it goes down the road straight but it still darts around. I may have to get rid of the 14" steering wheel and go bigger.

I think the best solution I have seen for people bagging a 60-62 with the torsion front, is to remove the whole crossmember (it all unbolts), and then bolt in a 73-87 crossmember and suspension. you will have to drill a few holes, I think only 2 are the same with the 60-62 swap.

Thanks a lot. It's '63. Had it for like 16 years now doing what I can lil by lil..... Wish I had the time and money to bag it, but I think I'd like to just start on another from scratch. Something like a panel or a carryall...

Damn gang, I've been working on "Endlessearth's" truck for the last couple of weeks and these trucks are seriously growing on me! I hate that too as I have way too much on my plate at the moment to consider one for myself. I do know what'll happen though, I'll find one for a price I can't pass up and it'll be GAME ON.... Dammit!

Drug this one home over the weekend. Very solid for being found in Ohio.

I intend to upgrade the drivetrain. The non-original 283 is pissin' oil all over the place. Hoping to convert to sbc 350 w/ 700R4. Need to get rid of the wheels and tires for a better looking and taller combo. 3500rpm at 55mph is no fun.

Just starting to collect up all the little stuff.
