Here's one of mine...sold it earlier this year after owning it for over 12 yrs., and having it survive a divorce. Loved this truck (still do), but it had too many 'ghosts'...

You know, what other 50-year-old vehicles can you still find regularly in junk yards?
There's half a dozen fresh arrivals in the local junkyard by my house, and they show up at Pull-a-part regularly too.
I've gotten rust-free fenders, doors, hoods, inner fenders, and a lot of mechanical parts I've needed over the last 5 years.
'67-up truck show up frequently too.
Can't do that with any other vintage vehicle that I'm aware of.

Well, I'm finally almost ready to start the body work. I filled all the trim holes, frenched in some 50 pontiac tail lights, pulled the motor and trans, clean up the front of the frame and painted it so I can put on the new front cross member and disk brakes. Yes, I know my welds were too high... :D[IMG]

Not around here in Santa Fe. It seems when the older vehicles show up, they go straight to the crusher for scrap metal. There are a few that show up in the U-Pull-It in Albuquerque, but by the time I get to them, they are skeletons. You're very lucky where you are...

By the way... very cool trucks have showed up on here since the last time I saw this thread. Nice!! I'm glad so many others dig my favorite body style... CHINGON!

That filler panel below the tailgate, and license plate surround are VERY nice. That totally finishes off the back of the truck.
    Excellent.

  22. Any chance you ever see the 60 -61 hoods and would like to help me acquire one for my 62 project?

I've never had a decent shot at one of these since the salt long since ate anything usuable around here and the freight usually stands in the way for anything out West.

    Thanks for your consideration.

Finally got around to dropping the front end a little more, I like these trucks with a aggressive rake. I think it is because of the offset wheel well heights.
