Features The Official 60-66 C-10 Chevy Truck Picture Thread

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by TexasHardcore, May 8, 2006.

  1. Just got it back from the sign painters yesterday. This is something I've wanted to do to this truck for a long time. Bob Bond put the letters on-he's a good striper/painter guy here in town. I really like it--looks like it has been there for 40 years! Hover Motor Co. was my granddad's used car lots from the 1930s-1970s in Colorado Springs. Normally I'd go find a pretty location and take beauty shots, but I'm too excited to wait and needed to share. :D

    That's AWESOME!
I wonder if you could hunt down his 5-digit phone number and add it. I'll bet an older family member will remember it.

  3. Thanks!

I'll tell you what--I did that. There was a guy that used to work on the lot that still had the old number. But my dad assures me that they were using the regular 7-digit by 1963, so I opted to leave that off. But yeah, I had the same thought, just seemed a little forced since they stopped using that number by then.

That's cool as hell! And yeah, you did the right thing by leaving it off with everything you said.

    That truck looks damn good.

  6. We used our current #, only used letter for the first 2 digits..which is what our service USED to be pre 65.
Really mess them up, should used "Carberator Springs" Co.

Looks good just the way it is..

Truck looks REALLY CLEAN! Just enough lettering doesn't overpower the look instead it just adds to the truck. GOOD JOB!

Anybody have any pics of a '60-'63 with a Fulton-style exterior sun visor?
Not to put too fine a point on it, but one on a Suburban or Panel would be better.

Revho that color is cool. Factory? The red bowties are a nice accent.

  11. Yeah. My wife insists that there is no paint left on it, but what is there is called Crystal Turquoise Metallic. I think it would be a pretty nice color on one with better paint than mine. :)

I need a favor from anyone with a '60-'62 T-bar front suspension truck:
Can you look at your front frame horns, several inches back from the front bumper, and tell me if there's a hole drilled in the bottom side of the frame rail? This is the general area where a sway bar mount would attach.

    Thanks,

    -Brad

I have a 62 with the torsion bars, I just looked and there are no holes in mine until you get back an inch or 2 from the front crossmember.

I have 61 C10 that needs new spindles but the only thing I can find are up-grade kits. Is there any way I can keep drums up front or should I quit fighting it and go with disks. I'm only running 235 V6 so I ain't going to set any land speed records.

You could go up to a 63-66 cross member and front suspention and still get 6 lug drums but the disk brakes are so much better and getting a dual master cylender would make it a lot safer to drive.

ya, thanks. I bought a "virgin" never been touched so it's hard to Modernize it. I'll get over it I guess, when I have to throw out the anchor flying down the Interstate.

For all the '60-'62 owners, I just got my prototypes for front and rear sway bars today. There aren't aftermarket sway bars available for the Torsion Bar trucks, so I'm rectifying that situation.

I'll have them mounted up on my '61 Suburban next week... I'm stoked! Both to be selling a part I hope to snowball into something bigger, and to go thru curves in that truck and not scrape the door handles!

I'd like to see pics of your rear one. I have been thinking of pulling one off of another vehicle and adapting it to mine. Hope that it works out for you Brad.
