Well i did a little work this week, some long evenings and a disc swap/airbags is 90% done, got one more fitting to pick up for the brakes tomorrow and attatching all the lines to the frame, align it, yadda yadda, i'll get some better pics when its on level ground, the front sits waaaay low, control arms hit the ground, the back still needs a notch, i want to keep the bedfloor stock (not really though) time for some paint and call it done, get onto the Model A !

Here's my 66. Built the mild 355 sbc and installed a 5 speed. Soon to do a frame swap for a 72 GMC chassis to get discs up front, better suspension all the way around and 5 lug pattern. She's gonna be dropped 4 in front and 3 in back. After that, finish off the bodywork then dove gray with black and red pinstripe and red interior.

Really Sorry for posting this here, I'll put something in the for sale forum, but I have a 62 C-10 longbed fleetside, running and driving, 350/350 B&M style shifter, thinking of parting out, unless someone wants it... in OKC. trim still there, take 700 for the whole deal, new starter, HEI dizzy...Gimme a PM of what you need. I'll post details on the for sale forum if any interest.

hey, lets see some pics of the subframe job!
i got a 62 that i need to do something with...

  25. Put it on a 73-81 chassis.
Rear Cab mounts and front frame horns are different.
Advantage...Disc brakes and rubber bushed control arms (Read that...replaceable with Poly and way cheaper than replacing the shafts.).

naw, i'd lose the rear suspension then.....how big of a PIA is just swapping out the front suspension with a 63-85 type crossmember?
notice that i'm aware of the torsion bars on mine...

I've heard that it's a simple matter of 6 bolts to swap it out!
I've got a '62 Suburban...it's horrendously expensive to rebuild the front end on them, mainly because the two lower ball joints are upwards of $130 EACH. I found some on ebay and paid $85 a pair plus shipping.
I really like the ride of the torsion bar front suspension--finding those ball joints at a reasonable price lets me keep it. I was real close to making the swap.

  29. Yup, just change the crossmember.
Cut the part of the frame where the steering box goes if you want the later P/S set up. they make a new tie-rod sleeve to use the later outers with the early inners.

Brad, if you haven't trashed the old lower balljoints, bring one to the swap.
I'd love to see what might come close.
