Event Coverage The Official 2014 Meltdown Drags #5 thread, vintage drag meet, July 18,19&20 Byron IL

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by David Doo, Jan 3, 2014.

  1. Good to hear you are using a steel (not cast) flywheel for a hot rod application. Don't skimp on safety.

This thread is mainly about the long bellhousing (early 1954 and back Chrysler) early hemis, but it is the same concept:

    Do I owe another $5 again? :D

    Those look fantastic.
Throw the blower motor in there, then that gives you the excuse to build Mr Hemisphere for the Scout, just like it had back in the day!:)

Is the heads up still tied in with the meltdown?

Zettle Bros. I'd like to run your '65 against my '63. :)

  7. Kinda sorta, we try to support them and their event. Plus is it a cool drag race event and there are not that many close to home. In the past we had a 2 part decal. Let me check on this years.

I hope this works out I need a shake down run  and practice my tree lighting skills

  13. Like I said before, we'll be at the HCHU.

A few of us have entirely new projects in the works, and we will be needing to make some shakedown runs by then

    ;)

  14. GO MAN GO !

I really like weed burners, too... so much that I had to pick up a set for my latest project... :D

  15. Maybe Mr. RedLight (Eric) should take some lessons from you on how to cut a light without making that bottom bulb light up...

II FUNNY: you should be taking notes too

    :D

    Falfa-

If you are going to be at the Hunnert, maybe we can start our best 2 out of 3 there. I will happily bring the Okie Doker across the cheese curtain for a shakedown run.

Then you will have about six weeks to lick your wounds, practice cutting a light and shifting that field car to make it a closer race at the Meltdown.

Bob Falfa: Hey you're s'posed to be the fastest thing in the Valley man, but that can't be your car. It must be your mama's car! I'm sorta' embarrassed to be this close to ya!
John Milner: Yeah, well I'm not surprised, drivin' a field car!
Bob Falfa: Field car? What's a field car?
John Milner: A field car runs through the fields, droppin' cow shit all over the place to make the lettuce grow.
Bob Falfa: Ha ha! That's pretty good! Say, I like the color of your car there, man. What's that s'posed to be? Sort of a cross between piss yella' and puke green ain't it?
John Milner: Well, you call that a paint job, but it's pretty ugly. I bet you got to sneak up on the pumps just to get a little air in your tires!
Bob Falfa: Well at least I don't have to pull over to the side just to let a funeral go by man.

  24. WOW, looks like a serious California invasion is headed this way to get in on the match race action...

OkieDoker wants to show his Famoso decklid to Eric's 55...

Toymaker wants to put some hurtin on Paul's little Fiat...

Panneton Bros coming all this way for a chance to work over Quain's Willys...

    Who's next??

  27. Looks great!
