These videos are as close to real 60s dragracing as you can get. The tire smoke the look of the car and the sound of the engine when the tires hooked up on the big end. I was there in the 60s but just a kid, I can't wait until the meltdowns so I can be a kid again.

I was just checking my Meltdown calendar and it is only 154 days until I light you up like a Christmas tree. You better get pounding on that field car.

Yea you can pretty much forget Rochelle....I called at the end of December and it was all full. You might luck out and somebody cancels, but you might as well count on staying in Rockford.

I took my ansen scattersheild and an old Lakewood to a metalurgists and had them tested for quality because someone stated the Ansen was cast iron. He said the Lakewood is ductile steel and the Ansen is cast steel. Both are very strong and he remarked the Ansen is way overkill because of its thickness but neither should weaken by age. I have Hot Rod magazines from the 60s and the material that was advertised is correct. He said both should easily contain an explosion but the Lakewood would be more likely to distort because it is not as thick as the Ansen but should contain all the pieces. I have ran the ansen since the 60s and wasn't ready to part with it but I have always ran quality clutches and alum. flywheels. The process he used to check for cracks was dye penetrant and wet mag.

Danny G - AWESOME!! Keep in mind you can't sell new scattershields with all those old 'unsafe' ones out there LOL.....great to hear what the expert said.....I ran one in my 56 and wasn't afraid of it.....at the end of the day containing the explosion is all that matters....I am sure alot of guys will appreciate hearing this!

  18. Cool info, thanks for sharing.

  19. I got a call last week, and there was a white flag waving on the screen of my cell phone..,it was one of the Koopie Bros. He said he was gonna be in town "for work", and could he come pay a "friendly visit"? THEN..,couple days later, I get an email from another Kooperton, says he's gonna be in town first of next month.., he wants an audience with me too! Now my daddy didn't raise no fool!, I see what's going on here..,a garsh dang Koopinflinger cohort conspiracy thats what! The thought of Yesterdays Child headed their way in mere months, has got em and the rest of them Yankee scoundrels crapping in their boots, crouched in corners rocking back n forth mumbling regretful multi dog dare recountenances to themselves!!! What's really going on, is they've pooled together to send the Kooped-up-minors out my way for some California competition recon, and this dude ain't drinking their Koopelade! Instead, I had to put all my top secret go fast parts away. Then I had a bunch of good for nuth'n junk "speed equipment" imported from the Northern Territory. Now I'm spreading it all around my place, so them boys will think I got the same used up, weak suck, no talent, clapped out thrift store crap as them! Those silly suckers ain't gonna know what hit em in July!, he he he.
    ,Ssshhhhhhhhh.

  20. Lots of talk here about flywheel and clutch explosions. Thats good.
Lets not leave out the automatic crowd. You get the same violent explosion with the added danger of very flamable atf. Ask me how i know. For the mopar guys a bolt in spag; alum drum; steel planetery;scatter shield are a good idea along with coolant lines that bolt on. No hose clamps. A functioning vent is a must. With out one the dipstick tube becomes the vent. I had a great fire years back when my trans guy forgot to put one on the tailhousing.

  21. Perhaps you're getting a visit from one of the the Koopsters to make sure you are going to make good on all your double-triple-dog-dares??? Ya know, to make sure you guys don't try'n back out to avoid gettin a whoopin... LOL... :D:D:D

  23. Ya, I'm looking forward to it too, but I aint going south of the border with you man! I can smell that booby trap.., You'll just try to get me jacked up on Mexican Tequila with worms doing the back stroke in it, so all the bad voices come out, and make me do bad things and get thrown in "el bote" (the can) to rot. Then you won't have to worry about us Panneton's, and that crusty crimson ole lady com'n 2nd gear GONE.jpg

Jackson porn.jpg up there and laying the hurt on you!

This is good to hear. The Lakewood in my 55 is from about 1971.

By the way, would anyone have a suggestion on what materials to use, and how to make a scattershield for a 331 Caddy V8? I've been slowly building my 34 Chevy and really want to have a scattershield in it. It has an extended bellhousing style 1954 Caddy V8 with a Bendtsens adapter for a Muncie 4 speed. I'll be using a new steel flywheel.

Make a doghouse that outlines the scatter shield, I don't think I have a pic of one from one of my 55's...but it gets bolted or welded to the frame.....go heavy gauge on the drivers side.....
