Found some more 354 truck heads today too...two pairs actually...lol!

Will trade two pairs of '92 heads for a good used blower intake!!!

Make sure you invest in the pinion spacer and shin set up for the pinion preload rather than the crush sleeve.
For the beating you are fixin to give it you will be glad you did.

    Good advice. :)

That crush sleeve always pisses me off when you can't "un-crush it" just a little bit anyway...!:D

  6. That is really good advice right there!

Shims and solid spacers are the only way to go in my opinion. I have had trouble with crush sleeves in the past. Plus solid spacers make yoke or seal changes way easier in the future!

These are the rods, that just got polished up,that swing on the crank, that throws pistons up and down in the block, that powers the car that's gonna tear down the house that the Okie Doker built...;)

  22. Ok - got ya - hate to wait on the hemi :( So is this turning into 'Gasser Tech Thread?' I need to buy the steel for my ladder bars and can't decide if square tube or round is the way to go. The plans I got off Ebay show 1.25" x .120" wall square tube. That is cheap to buy - like $12 for 48". I think the square looks more period than the round tube, but I bet its heavy as hell. Any thoughts?

Round for sure would be stronger.

  24. Per the steel manual, 1.25", .120 wall (11 gauge) round tube is approximately .396 lbs/ft lighter than 1.25" .120 wall square tube.

What's the basis for saying the round is surely stronger?

I had planned to build square tube ladder bars for the A as well Dog....I agree,it just looks so "built out back in 1962",ya know...?
    I love that look!

Your car is going to be a force to be reckoned with once you get the chassis sorted and start making big power:)

Square tubing will have stress points at the corners where as round tubing will transfer the stress throughout the whole tube.

Just realized I posted the same link twice! Doh! Here is the second one I meant to post which says it is unused and $200 bucks less! Guess it wouldn't have any good stories to tell, but as someone said, you could make some together!
