As usual let pull our efforts and create an all encompassing DASH/GAUGE thread. Throw up what your running or something that inspired you at one point. Hot Rods, Customs, Early European sports cars whatever! I'll start with my T Roadster Dash

I'm planning to make a custom one of these, somehow, to fit my gauges and starter switch, etc.

Thanks Harrison. I have put about 300+ miles on it already and it drives every bit as good it looks. Unfortunately I could not leave it alone, and currently it sits in the garage with the intake off and a busted Water Temp gauge. I am trying to get it back together for Good Guys this weekend. I really do appreciate the compliments even though the only thing I am responsible for is the purchase of it. Sean, Mike, and Dustin deserve the compliments for building and maintaining the car.

  5. Oooh, I hope this gets a good response, because I've been racking my brain lately on how I want my dash/gauges to look on my 58 apache, and can't seem to come up with anything I really love.

Nothing to write home about here. Stone cold stock, 1946 Chevrolet truck dash.

A flat pattern would be pretty easy to make, I'd think. Use some 3/4" plywood, and glue on some 1/4" trim for the fins. Maybe 1/2" strips for spacers when gluing on the fins? If you found some small wooden letters, you could even cast your name on it, "This is a super-rare Pete dash panel..."

    Here's mine, they're Stewart-Warner Wings.

I gave some thought to how they were arranged too. Going from left to right, I put the water temp and oil pressure right in front of me. I can see them easily through the steering wheel. Next is the speedo and it's mostly blocked by the wheel rim, but that's okay because it's not hooked up anyway! :) Next is the tach, then volts, and fuel.

The ignition switch is there in the center and the headlight switch is on the far left.

I like this arrangement a lot and it works real well for me.

Wow, thanks man. That's cool shit! Whoever thought up melting down old lawn chairs....

I was thinking machining the fins and holes into a flat alum plate, then file, sand, sandblast, distress the thing somehow to make it look a little rough like a casting. Casting my own sounds cool though -- I'll have to see when the time comes.

    Thanks a lot
    Pete

  16. Mr. Hotrod Man 2000, your car first inspired my choice of color for my 58 apache. I can't wait till I finally get it painted. I love the satin blue and white combo.

  24. I'm liking my 49 Plymouth dash so much, I'm putting one in my 53 Dodge truck. I made a hidden area for the cd player and threw in a pic of my "toilet seat" air cleaner just for fun.

Here is a sneak peak of the FnA dash, it is a 52 or 53 dodge that i got from chadman. I cut 18 inches out of the center and welded the glovebox up. I will be moving the gauge pod to the center and narrowing and reinstalling the bitchin speaker grill under it.
