Close, TheTrailerGuy, but it was Ed Donovan that gave me the idea.

Here's the Hot Wheels wedge digger my friend Marty made. Scratchbuilt from wood & modeling clay. Upscaled the drawings in the reissue of the Monogram kit to about 1/8 scale. The body is all airbrushed and/or hand painted.

I stand corrected completely.... i was busy scratching your dogs butt when you told me the story and we were having a moment... i missed a small detail here and there. Forgive me, plus i was still stunned by that drive in movie theater of a TV you had in your living room.

    Great story though!!

  11. McEwen? 1991? Top Fueler? I'm thinking that must have been behind the wheel of Jack Clark's T/F?

    How about Nitro God.

    Or Legend

or... well you get the idea. Without Tom here to properly warp our young open minds years ago, we'd all probably be riding ten speeds in the mountains with spandex pants on. (Shudder.....)

Tom McEwen personally sells racing memorbilia out of Prestige Hobby in Buena Park, California. I buy all my Mongoose stuff from there because they have the best prices and I know the autographed items are authentic. Here is a link to the Mongoose items on the website: http://www.prestigehobbies.com/search.php?mode=search&page=1
You can hit "Home" to see the other stuff they sell there.
Many things are autographed by Tom:

    and:

and others, as well. Great stuff!!
    Good Luck!

The hauler was finished a while ago. You can read about the state Don Prudhomme found it in here: http://www.motortopia.com/dragracer/departments/the-mongoose-journals/the-hot-wheels-hauler-976/

Don just finished restoring a red Hot Wheels funny car to match the red hauler. We just posted some pictures here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.197410510309659.62893.167871263263584

I'm heading down to Don's shop tomorrow to see the matching set!
