I inherited my Dad's merc this summer. while dealing with family affairs in Lebanon, VA I heard of a cruise in that evening, an hour later "Hell I'm going!" was the last conscious thought. An hour later I took this pic, out of gas, no tags, no insurance and needing a jump. then my next conscious thought came to me. "this is the same car that got us locked up at the first merc deuce reunion in Kansas City 1979." Well Dad in jail, me in the impound yard at the age of 12. I sent the pic to Mudslinger and he inspired me to continue by texting "Fuck Yeah!" Long story short the merc made there and was the center piece. Thanks Dad. the trip.jpg

I only have a couple pics right now. Dad never could keep this car on the front burner. He bought it 1973 or 74. merc front.jpg merc side.jpg

Those trophies are the ones Dad made for the first merc deuce reunion. We towed that car from Ohio to Kansas city. He worked on that car for over 40 years, hardly ever drove it. He drove the hell out of
    his 51 though.

Dad made these club type plaques for the first show. I was selling them in the crowd at 12 yro. The crappy old pic is a group of mercs from Dayton Ohio the day after we got out of jail. Dad & I are there. the gray merc became Larry Krammer's King of the Mercs. I think? Came from Tom Fox.

Ha. Funny you say that. That was always his favorite merc. He found the 49 in Fort Knox Kentucky around 1973. It was a kustom from the 60's built by Pat Keeting (sp?) of Louisville. Dad bought a $1.19 hacksaw and he and his buddy chopped it. Pat welded it back together. Dad did the fade aways with pieces he got from Gene Winfield. I remember the day UPS dropped off the virgin quarter panels. rare find back then. Pics of the car and friend below. found.jpg the friend.jpg

I honestly don't know. maybe 40 mercs. the biggest gathering at that time. I don't remember a lot of cars outside the merc deuce category. Jerry Titus who organized the show would know for sure.
