What a beauty. I’ve always been more attracted to hot rods but as I grow older I’ve come to love customs done in a traditional style. That one stands tall. I’m hoping one day you surprise us with a custom project of a popular 38 we all know and love.
Very tasteful, lots of beautiful details. Fun fact: Until today I had only seen just one detail shot of the headlights somewhere and I was desperate to see the entire car. Glad you did the feature Ryan!
Great car! I was fortunate to meet Manuel and have him invite me to his house when I was trying to figure out the paint colour for my truck (he mixed it for me) and got to see the car shortly after he had painted it in his garage. Lots of cool stuff on it that go unnoticed unless you look close. One of the coolest little touches, I though, was that he eliminated the spotlight mounts and had a threaded insets put in the A pillars so the spots thread right into the car. Looks very slick.
Maybe the look would have been smoother without the spotlights, but from what I saw of the late 40s, early 50s customs in the magazines of the period, the Appletons were almost universal, and personally I kinda like them. But as a wise man once said, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".
Rik has build pics on his site. https://public.fotki.com/Rikster/11...cars/36_ford_custom_cars/manuel-reyes-1936-f/
I hate Facebook, but The Rodder's Journal Facebook page has a 14 minute interview with Mr. Reyes by Thom Taylor at last year's GNRS (I think). What a gentleman. Try this link... https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10155264518805544
