To complete that trip in the vehicle you guys used is an epic journey, congratulations! I’m not on Facebook so the big question is, where did you place in the standings?

Epic ride...thank you for letting us tag along. It's appreciated. You going to try to drive it home or do you have a plan "B".

At this point somebody is supposed to quietly whisper "Cannonball!" and they turn around and do it again, backwards.

You ever been in a gospel church where the song sounds like it was gonna end and everyone starts clapping, and then they spin it up again for another chorus? I'm feeling like that right now.:D

Jim always has a great epilogue with follow-up hijinks. I can't wait to get caught clapping!

    Thanks everyone!

We got second place in points, and we also got the organizers choice trophy. First time they ever gave two awards to one car :)

We missed a few check points last night, it was late and dark and too iffy to try them. The guys who got first in the pinto based 29 Mercedes replica kit car sure earned the win.

Now I get to drive the car home. David is going home with his girl friend. I'm planning to head down highway 1 to visit our sister. Then figure out how to get home in the heat tomorrow. Might leave late and drive through the Yuma desert at night.

You mean the Dead of Night...

The Wrenchin' Undertaker...congrats on nailing another Adventure...it kind of reminds me of mountain climbers...you reach the top and celebrate but you still have to come down...so that means an equally interesting trip back as well...have fun...;)

What can I say that hasn't already been said? A high adventure, well done by a pair of guys we respect. Congratulations on the pair of awards, the LaSalle is too big to get just one!

I think Jim has the car pretty well figured out after a few thousand miles of running it. A few hundred more will be no big deal.

Night desert driving, no AC - I used a beer cooler with ice water and a washcloth, wiped myself down with cold water every 20 minutes or so, I had my own personal evaporative cooling. Worked pretty well.
