  1. ha neat!

will have to swing past the shop when we are over in june!

  2. Wow! Priceless. Thanks so much for sharing.

  3. people on the hamb have a soft spot for vintage kustoms. and a rather serious envy for those who own them.

another great thing is the photos. it really makes huge news when more old photos come out. you should send those to HRM. they usually like getting new old photos like these. and they may even put it in their magazine.

  4. !!!!!!!!! UN-FREAKIN' BALIEVABLE !!!!!!!!!!!!

A true joy to follow this thread!

    Great pics again.
Really great to see the Dean Jeffries stuff as his early work doesn't seem to get the credit that it deserves. My understanding is that he was the originator of the "Flying Eyeball" that Von Dutch gets most of the credit for. Only Jeffries original had roller skates on it. LOL Looking at his crazy creations just lends more credit to that.
If you can't get your friend over with his magical camera just see if you can get someones fiberoptic flexible viewer. Many mechanics have then to look into cyclinders thru the spark plug hole.
Can't wait to see what you will find.
    Torchie.

Yup. These photos kinda put the lie to the notion that the "original" hot rodders were tattoo'd and bearded beatniks in black coulottes and Red Ball Jets, don't it. Just sayin'...

  8. Man, awesome! Great story and those photo's are epic!

I heard that a lot of the Jeffries stuff wasn't in mags, cause it was too gross. I heard that in 58 or 59.

Absolutely awesome thread. These are the best kind, when you get to see history come back to the spotlight, commented and documented by the folks that created it first time 'round.

Cherish these folks, and hear their stories as otherwise they'll be lost forever.

    Keep the good stuff coming!

Just more proof that God loves hot Rodders that he put all this in motion:

    - Your Wagon gets stolen which is bummer
-Sliver lining is now you have too look for another project
-You find the Contaio Truck lost Kustom that you appreciate and will preserve/restore to its former glory
-Save it from Rat Rodder or Street Rodder that would not appreciate its history.
-You make a life long friend in George and bring happiness and hope to him, he gets a ride around in your killer Kustom.

All I can say is Wow!!!

    This was not purely coincidence!

Nice blue plexiglass on the speedo. That dash looks like it will clean up good with some Meguiars (or something mild that wont take off paint) Maybe WD-40?

    Dude you're killing us!!

Or is it you've already had the gate uncovered the whole time, Dutch's work is still there and you're just toying with us... Hmmm?? :)

Whoa! Don't put ANYTHING on that dash until you've talked to a bunch of old school (REAL old school) stripers for advice on what to clean it with. We'd all be heartbroken if you accidentally washed all that very cool Von Dutch striping off by using something too strong!

Between this and the Gene Winfield custom that Leland owns, we have some major history going here.

Thanks for posting these pics and story. Things like this can't be duplicated, just copied. Keep what you can, but put your own touch on that great truck.
