I dont know how I missed this thread But it is epic! I guess your back cruising around in Norway by now. Hope no news is good news
Such a wonderful story, for so many reasons. I'm happier for having read it.
What a great story. You are one fortunate man. So is George for that matter!
Great story, and great that George is able to add details and those old photos
After growing up in San Bernardino,it's interesting hearing all of this local history.
Very cool, that tailgate has got to be worth some big dollars.
bump to see if this truck was ever finished
I Must see this truck finished !
Just seeing this thread for the first time. Holy crap its cool! What a score in the truck alone, and then to find the original art still hiding under that cover!
Is the truck still in the states ? Any updates ?
Same here, just seeing this for the first time. Any updates?

great,thank you !!!!!!!
There are. Earlier this year, I answered an ad on local Craigslist for a '40 standard hood. The hood was gone, but he mentioned he had a lot of tools and shop equipment he was selling. We started talking, turned out he had been fabbing panels and doing bodywork on hot rods around here since the early sixties, but his health was deteriorating, so he was retiring.
I went to see him, we wound up spending hours pouring over old photo albums and talking about various cars and people we both knew.
I wound up doing a deal to buy almost all his old equipment, with a proviso that he have access to it, and pass down as much of his know-how as he can. As I have been reading this, some of the parrallels are striking. Great story.
Better! I've taken a few bras off, NEVER found Von Dutch artwork under ANY of them!
These days you will likely find some sort of artwork.
I got married ten years ago, been removing just the one since then...
Fascinating story, nice of you to include the original owner in the project !!!
I like the 40 Custom
Amazing thread I had not seen before!
This is one of the greatest threads on here

Can't believe I missed this baby , the first time around. I agree it's one of the jewels in the HAMB crown. But... We need the next chapter!!!
According to his Instagram, as of February, the truck is in Norway...
