Im starting to work on the stainless. I had to heat and reshape the quarter stainless and it's starting to look pretty good now. Still needs a lot of work but getting closer.

I have never been a fan of these cars with the B pillars still in them, something just looks off, all those nice curves and then this big thick solid straight line though it all...

Not that they all need to look like the mantranga/hirohata window treatment... but its just something that i feel takes away from the beautiful lines of a chopped 39/40 merc,

The first cat that that really stuck out for me is on Rudys coupe...

But as always, Beautiful work. Im just a hack compared to most...

God this just gets better and better.

i have to disagree with Dakota, i think the sloping B pillar is cool. Straight lines against such a curvacious body is still in keeping with the Art Deco feeling and definately works when you consider this car is achieving a look that predates the Barris/Matranga Merc.
I was even looking at some of the verticle B pillars but still can't get to grips with them totally.

I do like the Matranga curved window frame treatment but find myself thinking that sometimes it can look too delicate on what it quite a thick set body, I guess it all depends how it's done.

It's great to know we all have differing tastes otherwise we'd all be driving identical cars and have sod all to discuss. One thing we can all agree on though is level of skill that is being shown in customising this beautiful car.

  12. Wow Kevan this just keeps getting better and better the stainless is looking great.

  13. Is there a stainless cap for the visible part of the B pillar? The black part sticks out a little. Just a thought.

Looking great! Can you elaborate how you heated and bent the quarter stainless? Did you have to make a "window" template to keep the stainless straight while stretching?

Getting closer on the stainless. I used a piece of quarter inch plate instead of the thick stock B Pillar. The results are really nice and has clean look. When you use the stock B pillar and stainless it looks like a 4" wide post when finished.

That B-Pillar is really clever Kevan. The thinner pillars give the sides a completely different look.

I looks so much forward to the GNRS to be able to check out this car in person and see the flow of the top.
