I got to see the car when Simard was restoring it. I went up to visit with my dad when his car was in the shop too. I think @NoSurf came along for the ride that day too. Special car
IMO deuce roadsters just don’t look right channeled. This is an exception. The proportions are so correct it’s just amazing. The stance and wheel/tire combo…perfection.
Agreed. The trade off with this car is interior space. I’m 6’2” and literally couldn’t fold myself into the drivers seat. There was no possible way for me to fit in the car.
anyone that missed that auction also missed the greatest car show of all time, Man, that museum would really have been something....
I'm on my second cup of coffee and your video is how my morning started. Just doesn't get much better than that. Thanks.
The Khougaz roadster has always been in my top five roadsters, to see it running down the highway is very cool. Thanks Ryan. As to the channel/interior room, like top chops, it’s always a difficult trade-off, style vs practicality, isn’t it? From the Khougaz car all the way up to the Speedway Low-boy kits, they can look great channeled. It just takes a builder with taste.
The car is great, no doubt about that at all! I really appreciate the video and how it bounces back and forth from jiggly when the car is being driven and then to more steady and stabilized when examining the beautiful details of this roadster! Also the length of the video is spot on! Kudos to Miller's contribution to the video as well!
Man I've always loved this car.... Except for the drop down cutouts for the exhaust. But it does kill me a little more to see it look so weird with a person driving it.
Great look; don't think I ever saw that roadster before. My kid said the Khougaz roadster was his inspiration for the car he built out some old channeled '32 pieces he drug back from Washington. I can see why he liked it.
Where is that car today? I was owned by a Dr. In Northwest Indiana for several years. He was invited to Pebble Beach about ten years ago. The car is way cool. Redone to perfection. I believe Crown Point or Merriville Indiana.
I believe it sold at auction around 2006-07, for over 250K. Dr Mark was from Crown Point, I believe. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/khougaz-roadster-sells-for-385-000.203148/
Hello, Normally, I do not like channeled roadsters or sectioned or even both combined with a low profile. The space for a normal Model A coupe is tight, but a channeled/sectioned roadster may not be the most comfortable of driving positions. The two brothers were just a little cramped inside of the Model A coupe. the regular roadster we sat in was ok, but still tight. So, for a channeled roadster body missing some height, it would have been us as the roll bars for safety, if there was any… But, my favorite low stance roadster was from Bob Sefton’s, “Lil Miss Carriage” build. I was so enamored with the roadster that I got to work on an art project for a Friday Art post. Everything about the lowered stance roadster was outstanding, all except for those funky headers… https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/the-friday-art-show.1326695/#post-15418862 Jnaki Now, with this post, the Khougaz Roadster adds one last thing that makes the low stance roadster outstanding. The smooth aluminum cover plate for the usually empty space between the frame rails on 80% of these roadster builds. To me, the roadster has a good stance and this cover finishes the design and style. YRMV
