Do you remember the first time you disassembled an engine and " saw" how it worked ? The first transmission , , differential , auto trans , carburetor , starter. I can remember them , the thrill of , oh , wow !!

As a teen my first "car date" was with a girl named Joy, there was some discovery involved albeit not under the hood.

stumbling, along with my Dad, figuring out how to get '53 Merc flathead V8 running - head gasket/ timing gear/ etc. But, the real joy was getting behind the wheel for the first time - had overdrive 3 speed so shifted forever - did great burnouts in reverse - Ha!

Neighbor bought cars to part out at home. He was tearing them apart and I would help at age 9. I remember thinking he paid X and people keep showing up and handing him cash above and beyond what he paid.
    I couldn't believe it.
It wasn't tearing apart and rebuilding stuff but it set the foundation

  8. I was 12, holding the trouble light for dad while he explained to me the intricacies of the internal combustion engine while he was removing the heads on our 55 Pontiac. Then it struck..."HEY, GODDAMNIT! hOLD THAT FUCKIN LIGHT OUT OF MY EYES!!!!
    Ah yes...the first time.
