I agree, but I think it looked better with the Caddy caps. And if the skirts came off...:D

It is too bad that some of the pics are gone. Still a great thread worth looking at again

Later I will post what I have from the magazines and the pictures I have. Also a magazine spread from the Walker collection which is one of my all time favorites from the early 80`s from either Car and Driver or from Motor Trend.

Here is the first set of scans from Febuary 93 of American Rodder. The Jim Walker Collection. I believe the 50 Ford convertible was in Salina a few years ago. I`ll post pic`s of it later, it was for sale. Was the 53 Olds in Indy last year at the CCR? 2016. Scan0212.jpg Scan0213.jpg

  8. I went through Mark's photos of Indy 2016 and couldn't find it.
Are you maybe thinking of this one?

The Jim Walker car was a 98 Olds, having bolt on quarters. Butch Earhart bought it from Jim and then it was gone. Haven't seen it since. The 50 Ford conv. was also bought by Butch and is also gone. I believe a 49 out of Florida has surfaced, but it is not the same car that Jim Walker had.

It was the red one I posted above, there were some cars in the back grassy area that were very mild. Only were nosed and decked and lowered. They were behind the car Sancho posted. Way back along the tree line. It might not of been there.

I didn't see it there. The red one that you posted is out of Louisville. Has been around a long while, I think the gentleman that owned the car has passed, and his son now is the caretaker. Jim Walker is alive and kicking, but I don't see him out as much as I used to. It seems there are a lot that I don't see as much of nowadays.LOL

By the way, the black shoebox with the crestliner trim was done by a local guy named Mark Robertson, and it was the first and only custom he had done. He sold it to Butch Bunn.

  14. This is Ed Weidicamp's Olds. Sadly, he has passed away and his son owns the car now.
Ed attended quite a few KKOA Leadsled Spectaculars in the 80s in this car, as well as a few other Oldsmobile customs he had. He was definitely an Oldsmobile man. E

Here is the article from Motor Trend dated February 1981. Remember this is before the first ever Leadsleds in Kansas. So seeing an article on customs was rare. I found this article in our public Library, I rode my bike to satisfy my passion for the automobile. I found it in the basement where they kept all there back issues. Needless to say I went back more than a few times to read the article and look at the cars. 40 years later I bought a collection of magazines from our local thrift store of Car and Driver, Motor trend and Road and Track. About 20 years worth of each magazine from the same time frame. I wondered if this collection originally came from the Libra Scan0216.jpg Scan0217.jpg Scan0218.jpg Scan0219.jpg Scan0220.jpg ry.

As mentioned earlier in this thread. Here is Steve Anglin`s Charlie Brewer built Ford. I took this in Springfield Ohio`s KKOA show in 83. It was later sold to Rocco Cherio from Chicago. Scan0248.jpg

@Sancho, This is the Olds I was talking about. But it appears to be a different one. Scan0316.jpg Also referring to post 100.
